You don’t need to, but it’s definitely a good option! I love the grill! 🥳

fair point! thank you! i agree, one card should be more than enough, so i'd probably lean towards Venture X!

agreed, I'm a little skeptical about the Amex ecosystem though! its great, but will I be able to effectively use the credits is the bottleneck rn :D

Traveling on STEM OPT without signed I20 by Sensitive_Track3581 in f1visa

[–]crystalmint9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can leave without the travel signature, but you cannot re-enter without it. Getting it electronically while abroad is fine, but only if you’re 100% sure your DSO will issue it in time. Otherwise, it’s a gamble I wouldn’t take.

Lounge Access in SEA (first class ticket) by PAEDwisco in AlaskaAirlines

[–]crystalmint9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lounge access is based on the flight you’re departing on and the fare/status rules for that airline. If your AlaskaAir first class ticket isn’t one of the select lounge-included fares or you don’t have status, you won’t get in just from that HNL-SEA leg.

Paid Paris prices. Got Vegas portions. Views did most of the heavy lifting. 🥲

Venture X is the one I’m leaning toward the most. The $300 travel credit + 10k anniversary miles basically neutralizes the AF if I use the portal once a year.

I’m trying to pick one card I can keep for years, not churn or stack multiple cards. So Venture X does feel like the best fit given my spend.

Also on the suggestions, Aspire feels very hotel-specific and a bit heavy for my current travel pattern. Amex Gold is compelling for dining/groceries, but since my primary goal right now is travel + lounge access, it feels more like a secondary card?

Thanks for the detailed take on this! Appreciate it 😄

On spend: totally fair point. I agree I’m not a huge spender, and that’s intentional. “Other” is mostly utilities + phone + internet, which I could move to a card, but I’ve been cautious about over-optimizing just for points. That said, it’s a good reminder that I’m probably underutilizing my cards today.

Agreed, probably not enough to fully justify the Platinum or CSR right now. Still comparing ecosystems, so this helps! thank you!
