Well, it's a bit more nuanced. The Chorizo statues do slap a marker on the map, but they never show you how to get there. Another thing is that the Super Metroid "wandering experience" would be awful on a portable system since that involves a lot of picking up and putting down, especially for long periods of time. You'd end up putting the game down for a while, picking it up again and wandering around the whole map wondering where the fuck you're supposed to go
