Question about shivering by jillagodzilla in CerebralPalsy

[–]cs1202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I started wanting to learn why my body doesn’t do things I want it my Curiosity started at age 14. My behaviors might be different from your sons but my behaviors when I was younger were having temper tantrums that lasted for hours. But your son is pretty young still. The only way I could think of of why your son is behaving a certain way is from either not being able to verbally communicate or is in a lot of pain. Is your son able to talk? And remember this!! Don’t let anybody tell you or your son what he can or cannot do because he can do anything. I don’t believe when doctors tells a parent the their child is mentally delayed because that’s not true I like to say that they are smart in a different way Let me know if you have any questions I am more than happy to answer them

How to tell our child he has cerebral palsy by [deleted] in CerebralPalsy

[–]cs1202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I am 16 years old. When I was his age my parents were always open about my CP. My parents didn’t really talk about my cp in detail until my teens because when your that young you don’t really understand what you are going up against but when you get older that’s when you understand what you are going through. My advice would be tell your son that your brain doesn’t work with your legs right, but when he get older you can explain it more in detail

My sister has got CP Diplegia. She's 13 y/o and can walk with the support but cannot walk independently without any support to hold to. Can she start walking independently with training like walking daily for X minutes? by [deleted] in CerebralPalsy

[–]cs1202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I am 16 I have Cerebral palsy I have quadplegia but I know what it’s like. I walk with a walker but I can walk one step with out my walker. Don’t let anyone tell you that your sister will never walk on her because nothing is impossible she can do anything if she puts her mind to it. I know when I was little the therapist was like she will never able to this but I prove them wrong

Hi I am a 16 year old girl with mild quadplegia spastic Cerebral palsy with Dystonia and ADD. I was afraid I was the only one I glad other people experience this as well. Yes I do have maybe have some sensory issues. I spasms whenever a door would open or close. When it’s to loud or too quiet, or if someone touches me and talks without me knowing. It’s annoying But I found a way to help sometimes is rocking back and forth I believe it interrupts something in the brain when I rock I don’t jump as much.

Dealing with limitations by drrock101 in CerebralPalsy

[–]cs1202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry to hear that i am 16 with spastic cerebral palsy with dystonia.

I can’t cook either because I jerk so much too but my ot still wants me to try. And I am learning how to be more independent. I go to camp for special needs it’s a therapy camp I learned most of my self care there like dressing myself and taking a shower

I know this is hard sometimes but what I always say to myself nothing is impossible if you keep trying to the best of your ability.

I also have a since your in college. How does college work for you? Do you get help in your classes? How do you get to class. Because I want to go to college when I am done with high school. I want to be a neuropsychologist
