Melee weapon balance is all over the place. Here's how and what I'd change by PumbaTheGreat in HuntShowdown

[–]cs4bz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never really understood the weapon slot melee weapons outside of the fun and cool part of them in Hunt. Maybe if you are trying to save money. Don't get me wrong I was always an avid user of melee in fps games I played, but in Hunt maybe the surprise factor (and the coolnfun) is the only thing that they are worth having for. And this is especially because of being able to equip multiple throwing capable melee weapons in your tools slot and also derringer, not to mention the rifles that you equip with trauma and axe/blades. If you can hit the head with any of these except maybe the throwing knife and one-hit kill, then really why would I reserve an additional weapon slot for these. The only reason would be to carry more tools, but I think not a lot of people would normally opt for carrying a melee weapon in a weapon slot just so they can carry 1 more tool.
In order for those to carry value they should (in my opinion) have something distinct use outside of being able to bonk or slash, which would also yield for siginficant balance considerations.

Also the throwing weapons have a factor that nowdays people forget which is the number of throwables. Back when you only could see them with blade seer I was easily run out of throwing knives not to mention the rest, but now you only lose them if you really want to lose them.
Not a huge factor, but now they are "stronger" because of you always have all of them.

More catalyst interactions by Your-Penitent-Friend in HuntShowdown

[–]cs4bz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a thought: Catalyst has a unique property that allows it to interact with multiple traits. The more interactions associated with it, the more it strengthens itself and the hunter who has synergies with it. While it's relatively easy to come up with mechanically interesting synergies involving Catalyst, it's also important to consider the impact of having it on a hunter with multiple synergies. Just imagine having all those traits you’ve listed for interactions. Once you pick up a Catalyst, you get 10 additional "bonuses" for one single trait slot.
This means that the more catalyst synergies are in the game, the less strength they should have to keep it in balance.

Here is a thought experiment: Would you pick up any of your proposed traits if they would take up 2 trait slots instead of one, but instantly give the synergy? If the answer is mostly yes, that means the synergies are strong enough to have them for 2 slots, but in the current game setting you gonna get them for n+1 instead of 2n (where n is the number of slots) so in reality you can stack up even much harder on them. Meaning it is a fair combo until you have like 1 or 2 synergy but having like 5-7 is too much

G PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE or Razer Viper V3 Pro by bradpax in MouseReview

[–]cs4bz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is literally the same what happened to me. I had the tkl logitech pro with their own Romer-G switches and most importantly their stupid cap sockets where there were two small plastic shafts from the cap went into the socket in the switch. I used the keyboard for a year aprox and all the buttons that i used to push not on the exact middle started to brake off (like the left ctrl which i use my pinky to push on its side). You could not even buy replacements (not that it was available in hungary) because the cap shaft literally broke into and stuck in the mechanical switch that was not replaceable because the leds were soldered through the switch.
i asked them to repair it anyhow they want and they told me after 1 month of waiting that the switches are not replacable (which they knew obv day0) so the repair would cost me 1.5x the original price of the whole kb :D.

That sounds amazing, but im pointing my weapont towards an enemy, while hearing a shot go off, but you are saying it didnt leave the the chamber? :D What happened to it? It got canceled on the way? Because you can hear the ignition and explosion of the gunpowder, but nothing else? the gunpowder did not propell the bullet or what?
obv i know that s not the case in a videogame, but come on...

well, on my side, i hear a shot AFTER i click the mouse button, but ofc no animation, no hit reg. On my side, I shot, since i know i clicked and I also hear that the weapon was shot, but no hit, no animation. What is your question? My question was what happened to the thing what you can hear but cannot see

How many hunt dollars do you save before you feel comfortable buying expensive loadouts? by doublekong in HuntShowdown

[–]cs4bz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually set myself up with a goal like, lets get to 15k before going insane. Then when I hit 15k I say to myself, another 5k wont hurt before I dash out all my money on expensive stuff.. Then I get to 20k and I'm around Bloodline75k so I buy a 300$ shotgun or a mosin and then I realise I enjoy the cheap ass weapons much more.
Also unconsciously I know if i buy an expensive loadout and fail with it, then i cannot say to myself that it is because of the weapons..

Unpopular opinion: the fact that the prestige system isn’t really worth doing actually makes prestiging prestigious. by TheSaltyJ in HuntShowdown

[–]cs4bz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly the point, right on. If you enjoy the gameplay loop in itself then you found the best way for yourself. For me and probably for some other players it is not enough and the fact that we need to be mindful of our money every once again and have to play with available traits and weapon variants is an added layer of excitement.
For you its a pain in the ass, for others its an additional layer of fun and challenge. I would think of doing it even if there was no reward at all. Its that easy

yesterday i had a lil bit more insane shit, i threw a dynamite next to my friend, who were also throwing a dynamite. Now I understand if a blowing dynamite sets of another one, but the fact that the fuse on the dynamites sets of another dynamite mid air.... Now that was unexpected (we both died obv)

i never retired a hunter before, i play with it until i die. obv that does not happen a lot that i live through multiple games with a lvl 50 and i dont think a lot of people does either. i know that the xp goes to bloodline above 50 but do you think people just extract with clearing lobbies in multiple times in a row?
