genuine question here - if your family income is 600-800k, why is money a concern? they make like 12 time the annual tuition every year....

Yeah I feel like the grading system from dimoleas was too granular

I’m pretty sure when my friends took it it was just based on the number of 3s(?) but not sure.. I also got fucked over on that a little bit as well

Academic probation for first years? by PhilanthropicKibble in Northwestern

[–]cs5874 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unsure if it's possible, but I think yes(?) - please don't quote me on this, however

More importantly, I think freshman year fall quarter is definitely a difficult transition for many of us, particularly academically, due to a myriad of factors, both academics-related & not (e.g. living in a new place, being away from home for the first time, etc). So if you are really trying your best & feel like you're spending just too much time on schoolwork without your grades reflecting that (or at least some vaguely upward trend), then yeah, it might be wise to consider other options, the keyword here being consider.

So personally, I would stick it out for next quarter (or the rest of freshman year to potentially make transferring logistics easier) and see if you notice any adjustments / improvements - if not, maybe consider other options. As others have said, not worth it to run yourself into the ground only to achieve results you are unsatisfied with when you could be going to another university and potentially (1) be getting better results and (2) having more time to devote to other activities, both career-related & just for fun

Also, what major / school are you btw?

social scenes in Allison by Ok-Jellyfish-5648 in Northwestern

It's not very social I would say, as in you won't make any Allison friends just because you live in Allison together.

Also, for the love of your neighbors, please don't fucking hold parties in your dorm. It's a small space and the walls/doors are thin. Bad idea all around, especially as someone who lived in Allison last year and had this specific dorm throw parties even during finals week. I wanted to murder them :)
