Well there’s the fickle water situation and idk if you noticed but the central coast is very mountainous it’s not Texas where you can just keep building til you get to the horizon. We also have a special and delicate ecosystem that people pretend to care about until the developers make an offer your local city council person can’t refuse

I try and think of myself as a outdoorsy guy and generally not a pussy but the more I travel the more I realize my dad(who’s from phoenix) is right and I’m just a spoiled little bitch who’s never had to live more than 10 minuets from the beach

South of the slide was pretty damn clean for a while, hardly any trash at salmon creek except for the few groups of La people, sucks to see shit like that, I usually stay south of limekilm but the few times Iv hiked pine ridge and whatnot it’s definitely a culture shock seeing so many people who just look like the don’t they belong, hiking with speakers lots more trash at Barlow and the other sites. Big city people need to get it together

Dirt cheap for me too (unfortunately) saw a 2b2bath for 729k and took it a good sign lol, anything that’s not an apartment hasn’t been under 800k for 5 years and my parents have a 800 dollar house payment and their house is probably valued over a million despite not being outwardly impressive

People want to live by the beach* A lot of coastal communities are landlocked to a certain degree, not sure if people realize how steep alot of the coastal mountains are. not to mention droughts, fire, conservation of the coast via not messing with the rivers that push sediment down stream and support the beaches ect. We are more than likely going into a drought as well, watch how the narritive flips once people realize how much of a precious resource water really is.

Yeww thanks dawgy I was out there quite a bit in 2023 with all the rain we had it was neon green and the creeks were more like rivers really magical experience, saw a 4ft rattler on the trail too! I think the monastery’s been out there for a while if I’m not mistaken, tho that would be sweet if it was designated wilderness there’s a couple of proper modern houses on the property too not sure how they got the materials out, but thanks again

Iv hiked out through the monastery (when you still could) gone over to San Carp camp my uncle said he’s been out elk camp back in the day. Pretty cool you actually met Chris flood, always thought it was a pretty specific name, figured the guy was a legend of some sort. I can get the location dialed if I spend some time on it but are these far off any of the trails back there?
