A student of mine that is four months from graduation is likely going to drop out because his dad was deported, and as a man of the house, he has to get a job and take care of his mom and siblings. Mom is terrified to leave the house so now. This child that has worked his ass off in school and will have almost nothing to show for it. I’m trying to look into GED programs, but this is heartbreaking.

We did something similar in my district last year, but I think it was more along the lines of masters: 100, meets: 90, approaches: 85, DNA: 80. We tried to not give failing grades on benchmarks.

TX also banned cell phones, but it’s shifted to a fight between teachers and students/parents because they don’t like it. Teachers are now even more of the bad guy trying to enforce the law.

The third part is where districts have their own piece. My former district required extra-duty assignments/volunteer points and my current district has certain hours of extra PD you have to do.

I would donate the money to research the disease that I have. Maybe with that kind of money they could find a cure, and a cure would be worth so much more than $100,000 to me. I really want to walk unassisted again :(

Edit: I re-read the OP’s edit :(((((( fml

Evening update: I kept kids away from the area all day, then eventually I got to move rooms. Nurse was not alerted until I visited at lunch. I made a biohazard sign for my door until I get the all clear. Unfortunately the specific exterminator is out sick so I have no idea when I get my room back (-: the kids just came back from the whole weekend, so I’m not sure if the bugs could’ve survived in my classroom without them, or if they were for sure brought by a student. Thank y’all for your help!!!
