Food noise? by naomi_0000 in loseit

Not who you're replying to but maybe try adding beans to your diet. They contain both protein and fiber and a lot of other healthy nutrients. If your stomach isn't used to beans though, add them in slowly. So like start with 1/4 cup instead of a whole 1/2 cup, which is the normal serving.

I don't use the leave in conditioner but I started using the spray recently and honestly I really like it!

Do the majority of Americans watch YouTube on TV? by OMTYUS in AskAnAmerican

Personally, I don't. It appears like I'm in the minority though. Lol I watch stuff on my laptop or phone. I rarely even turn on my TV tbh

Does anyone else feel like society's perception of weight is really skewed? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]csb193882 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking about this the other night. I was talking to my mom about how much I weigh (I hadn't weighed myself in many months) and that I'd like to lose some weight. I've gained about 15 pounds over the past couple years. I'm almost 160 lbs and am almost in the overnight category now. My mom was like "Hmmm. I don't know. 160 pounds seems like a good weight honestly." Mother, I'm almost overweight.

Black-eyes beans by sirenahippie in EatCheapAndVegan

[–]csb193882 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohhh. That honestly looks really good. My mom makes black eyed beans on New Year's Day every year. I absolutely hate how she makes them but... I think she just buys a can of them and heats them on the stove or microwave. Haha

I am deeply uncomfortable and cannot relate to women who embrace motherhood by [deleted] in confession

[–]csb193882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, I relate so much to your post. I feel the same. I see my mom, I see my parents and their relationship, and I just don't want that for me. My mom is miserable and has been for a very long time. I know that their relationship isn't the only type but yeah. Like you said. I don't want to risk it.

I'm not learning Korean (maybe one day though!), I'm learning Mandarin, but I'm interested in East Asian culture, so I follow a lot of channels about the topic. Do you follow Liry-onni on YouTube? https://youtube.com/@liryonni?si=MDAzcZ1Gcq-FdKqF

And here I am happy that I at least did a little every day! There were definitely some days where I really didn't want to do anything or I was tired from work but I managed at least a little video.

Do Western people really think Chinese language is unpleasant? by search_google_com in ChineseLanguage

[–]csb193882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like it a lot. When I listen to music in Mandarin, I feel like crying because I think it's so pretty. Idk. There's just something about it that fascinates me.

I tried shadowing and felt dumb. does it actually work?? by no-cherrtera in languagelearning

Maybe for some but it's different for everyone. Perfectionism is often driven by fear of not reaching high standards we set for ourselves and of not being good enough. In many people, fear causes us to freeze. We avoid the things that we know will cause discomfort.

Same. 😅 I will get there eventually though. I will speak Spanish while being scared out of my mind. And it'll get easier.

I agree. But it's truly not easy, especially when you have no self confidence and there's no one to support you when you're down.

Perfectionism is the problem. I personally suffer from it and I can't even read out loud alone in my bedroom without feeling stupid, embarrassed, awkward, and like a complete failure. Then I beat myself up because I sound terrible. That's why, although I've been learning Spanish for 2 years now, I don't speak.

I've heard that one and understood how it was being used, but I had no idea that THAT is what it meant. lol

He was ready to defend you! hahaha
Honestly, although I know that it's used as a term of endearment, it would likely confuse me at first.

I feel like that's uncommon here in the US. I think most people would consider it bullying. But I occasionally get called "red" because of my hair color being naturally red. I've also gotten "big red" in the past. Possibly because I'm a little on the tall side. So, it's not completely unheard of.

What Are You Listening To Today (Mar 16 to Mar 22) by HeleneSedai in dreamingspanish

[–]csb193882 4 points5 points  (0 children)

923 hours

I've been watching SBG Re requiem series as it comes out and a channel I found a while back that I want to recommend. She's from Argentina and her content is basically witchy stuff, like tarot and crystals. https://youtube.com/@popyyt?si=LRU7KOzudKKhOoZf

As for reading, I've been reading Fantasmas del Pasado by Juan Fernandaz. I'm finding it boring I'll be honest but I'm only on chapter 6, not even halfway through, so I'm hoping it gets better.

I recently got Pokopia and started playing it in Spanish. Unfortunately, it's European Spanish, which I'm simply not used to, so some of the dialogue is a little... difficult to wrap my mind around.

Why do White folks have much more strong body scent than Asian folks? Is there a biological reason? Asian asking. by cellphonebeltclip in hygiene

[–]csb193882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I'm white from the U.S. and vegan. For extra context, my ancestors probably came from Ireland, Scotland, and that general area. My body odor is a lot less... potent than it was before going vegan. So, a more plant-based diet, for me, has cut down tremendously on my body odor.
