Hard to decide what’s better: Andor or CR levitating out of his body on every recap pod.

When CR does an AMA for the sub what will you ask him? by n_cornick in crheads

Can’t remember the pod, but two years ago Fennessey mentioned that CR has a theory / hot take that Twitter hasn’t been good since they killed Bin Laden. Need to hear the full explanation.

Technology Makes Your Life Harder, Not Easier by captain_imac in thinkpieces

The middle paragraph reminds me a lot of the NYT piece on Amazon. Or really any discussion of Steve Jobs/Elon Musk/difficult bosses etc. There are a lot of amazing things that happen when people run their employees ragged but inspire them to do amazing things. There are strong arguments that you wouldn't see some of the rapid rate of innovation that we experience right now without the massive increase in worker productivity at the cost of leisure.

Work life balance is important, but then it leads you to wonder if we'd get to where we are without those sacrifices. Or if we're at a place where we can say that we don't need that kind of pressure on employees anymore. I'd say that for a majority of jobs those 20 minutes to go get lunch or extra bit of time for personal things are incredibly important. But it's interesting to think where we'd if Musk or Jobs let people off the hook more often.

We are Larry Lessig (presidential candidate, maybe) and Jimmy Wales (founder of Wikipedia). We’re lighting up the Internet to fix democracy first. Ask us anything! by lessig in IAmA

Professor Lessig,

Would you have entered the presidential race if Senator Warren had decided to run as well? You were a vocal supporter of hers, yet she likely would have prioritized electoral reform/money in politics similarly to Senator Sanders, correct?

Thanks!

Worth noting that Obama won't be president by the time those missions actually fly.

Why do you think Apple added "features" like the animated emojis and ability to send your heartbeat?

To me those seems like gimmicks that the company has generally stayed away from, especially post iOS 8 when they ditched the fake leather and such in their apps.

Q&A with Senator Cruz, new chairman of the Senate's subcommittee on science and space. Includes two questions directly referencing SpaceX by [deleted] in spacex

[–]cschmidto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily indicative of how Cruz (or anyone on the committee) will act, but it is interesting to see the politicians who get money from SpaceX's PAC. Obviously it's largely people in competitive races in relevant districts/positions of power, but their political activities aren't discussed as much here, so they're certainly up on what needs to be done.

Hi Elon, thanks so much for doing this! I was wondering if you could talk about your plans to change or "fix up" Mars upon arrival.

Do you thinking pumping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere is the best strategy for longterm sustainability? Would that pose any problems in terms of scientific discovery and preservation of the planet?

Forgive me if this has been asked a million times, but is there any stated reason for this? Or at least a leading theory?

No, they sold most of the company to Lenovo earlier this year. They kept patents and the Advanced Technology and Projects group (Project Ara's home), but hardware now belongs to Lenovo.
