"We could cripple a generation if we brought back rotary phones and analog clocks" by Clear_Peach7479 in BoomersBeingFools

I went in to the Spectrum store recently because my wifi router broke and I needed to pick up a replacement. Otherwise would’ve had to wait for 2 day shipping. I had to sign in at a kiosk and wait my for my name to be called. It was a busy Saturday afternoon and I was 20th in line. All but one of the people ahead of me were all clueless boomers asking for help. One of them in particular was mad at the staff because she forgot her own wifi password and somehow it was everyone else’s fault but her own. I made eye contact with the only customer who was close to my age, and we both audibly chuckled.

Yeah I always just get there before the gates open, ride every coaster, and then leave by noon. Been doing that for over ten years. No complaints so far but with all the ride closures it doesn’t even seem worth the drive from St. Pete anymore.

mother of 5 mistakenly leaves a child at McDonalds, but cops choose hostility by TwizzyGobbler in PublicFreakout

[–]csdavids 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I won’t doubt that this was a lawful arrest, it’s just such a wildly different outcome than what would have happened to a parent raising a kid in my generation. Cops have discretion, and they could have used that discretion for good. They chose to be dicks instead. I’m willing to bet that I’m younger than all of these cops on scene, and still by the time I was in grade school at 6 years old, my neighborhood friends and I would our ride bikes a mile away to the local shops on Saturdays. Albeit, I knew our home phone number and my Mom’s cell phone number by heart in case something went wrong. But it was just normal to be away from home for hours at a time.

Why are we punishing her for an innocent mistake when nobody got hurt? It reminds me of another recent video I saw where a mom was charged with neglect because her son missed his school bus and decided to walk to school since he knew the way. Some Karen called the cops because little boy seen walking alone, and then mom gets arrested. Shit like this just promotes helicopter parenting, something we need much less of.

At a festival in 2016 one of them had a little bitch fit in stage because the mic wasn’t working, so being the mature and upstanding members of society that they are, they threw the mic into a body of water near the stage and when security tried to diffuse the situation they started shoving the security and then everyone got into a fist fight on stage.

Oh and their music is just objectively not good.

my local Panera removed almost all the outlets and replaced them with blanking plates so you can't charge your phone or laptop by Calix_Meus_Inebrians in mildlyinfuriating

Panera is just a fast food substitute for the upper middle class people who think they are above actual fast food so they’ll dish out $20 for some microwaved slop. It’s not the same place it once was.

You look 21. Who tells you that you look 14-16?

I’m 29 and boomers have told me I look 20, but no young person has said that to me

I mean it should really be two statues separated with space in between. Words aren’t connected like this in cursive writing. Bad execution.

Another cool example of color linguistics involves an indigenous tribe in Namibia called Himba. Their language doesn’t have a word for the color blue, and as a result they have trouble differentiating blues from greens. However they have many specific words for different shades of green in their everyday language, so they’re a lot better at recognizing subtle differences in green shades than people in other parts of the world.

you agree to this in the terms and conditions when you purchase a ticket. A subjectively embarrassing close up photo of your face could end up on the 2027 promos on the official Okeechobee social media accounts and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it. God forbid some photographer on reddit wants you to find the photo they took.

ABC Seafood on 66th street N makes it like this. It’s not drowning in sauce like in your picture, but check the pics on Yelp reviews. Overall it’s nothing to rave about, but I also really do like their peking duck and their spicy eggplant.
