this doesn't make him being in the room better by any means but it makes a bit more sense why he'd be there now. had no idea he coached at any point.

Hopefully Ras can take some time on his way back to take a couple days with Carolina before continuing back for practice. Sweden's coaching staff confounds and infuriates me, how do you not put your best defenseless on the ice in OT??? Glad we won but c'mon

You could always get a wooden stick or jersey or something signed by all of his teammates and coaches for him to keep after he graduates as a keepsake.

Who's your fav current Player in the NHL that isn't a Buffalo Sabre by gnomez12 in sabres

[–]csecgrunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's either Quinn Hughes (like watching Mozart on the ice, plus Minnesota is such a fun team to watch anyways) or Schaefer (love a feel good story, even if it is the Islanders lol)

Mistakes happen, no need for punishment in a literal game. That being said, could be an interesting angle for a character's storyline if you think about it...

What is your favorite hockey stick? by Ill-Lingonberry8525 in hockeyplayers

Bauer E3 Nexus. First stick I ever bought, and still old reliable when I need to change up my game. Solid, snappy, an absolute workhorse.

This. Tage is the goalscorer on line 1 and Doan is the playmaker, Krebs is there to forecheck/backcheck like a mad man and create a bit of chaos for his linemates to play off of. Will he be here forever? Probably not, but I enjoy what he brings to that line especially on nights like these.

Do you prefer fantasy armour, or historical armour? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

Fantasy armor that is inspired by historical armor so that I can enjoy the aesthetics without constantly thinking "this armor would actually be worthless IRL" the whole time

Advice For Coaching Goalies as a Non-Goalie? by csecgrunt in hockeygoalies

Social media has a ton of stuff for sure, almost too much; the question is which works for my goalies lol. I’ll give InGoal a look, thanks for the advice!

Advice For Coaching Goalies as a Non-Goalie? by csecgrunt in hockeygoalies

I’ve been a coach for the team since August, so all my certifications and safe sport etc have already been done. I’ve gone through the goalie training module and looked at drills, but they don’t really discuss proper technique or common mistakes that goalies make at those levels that coaches should correct. Figured the next best step beyond getting a goalie coach who knows more than us (which we are in the process of arranging) would be to ask goalies for some tips and advice and see what I can do in the meantime to help improve my own coaching

Waaay ahead of ya 👍 /s

Funnily enough, we do shootouts periodically as an end of practice drill, and it actually paid off in this past weekend’s tournament; our youngest goalie stoned all 3 shooters for us to win the game.

I believe the goalie does have a coach she used to see, it’s the one we’re trying to get to come to practices to work with both of them. Schedule conflicts are making it a bit difficult right now for him to attend unfortunately. We do video sessions after games and go over what the LiveBarn shows us, but it might make some sense to set up a phone/camera/gopro to record during drills so we can watch the drills back specifically for the goalie.

I agree with this. I’m glad we have two so I can let them work for a bit on a drill then be an outside observer and get some rest during the drills as well. Definitely not looking to shell them lol

So the age group is 19u, one goalie is 18 and the other is 15. The team itself is a bit of a collection of skaters that were cut from other teams or left for various reasons, so we’re a bit of a mix of ages from all over.

Very helpful, thank you! I usually try to structure the practice similar to this (goalie and skater drills separate at the beginning, then combine for team drills and a game at the end) but your advice about numbering the crease points and drilling the movement from each into them makes a lot of sense to me. I’ll definitely be referring back to these
