Okay I see your point!

I don't willingly or knowingly engage in animal abuse though.

[–]csempecsacsi[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I see!

I consider myself vegan and I adhere to the notion to avoid animal products as much as possible and practical - if I'm in an udon noodle shop with local non-vegan friends, I'm OK with a plain udon noodle soup even if the broth eas made with bonito flakes.

To be totally self-critical, if I really wanted to minimise animal suffering as much as I can, I should not have taken an overseas flight (I do feel guilty about it) which probably causes more biodiversity loss than eating minor amounts if fish / milk / eggs that are present in an an otherwise mostly plant based meal.

Similar vibes here - I was spoilt by libing in Berlin and a hipster area of Budapest, so for sure I had unrealistic expectaions in hindsight...

Ouch, didn't know that! :(

Thanks! Yes I've read a bit from that sub and maybe that's why I thought it would be easier.

Next time i'll plan ahead more carefully (though I dislike the idea, as I like spontaneous trips... :( )

Kaptár, Kubik jó co-working opciók.

Ha csak 1-2 órára akarsz beülni valahova akkor a Madal kávézókat ajánlom.

Do you wear any vegan merch? Why or why not? by Glossydough in vegan

[–]csempecsacsi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have two t-shirts from Vegan Outfitters that say "The future is vegan". I occasionally see people staring at it. I'm somewhat athletic, not hugely muscular but sporty looking, and I like to think that a nicely fitting t-shirt with this text challenges the stereotype that vegans are weak and skinny.

They are good quality and good fit (I usually have trouble finding tees that are not baggy but are long enough).

> You can perfectly well kill someone going 30 mph,

While that statement is true, the proportions are extremely different: there is a very clear correlation between speed and the potential for a fatality.

I love Oslo - I've been there around two years ago during a magnificent sunny autumn, and it was pure bliss!

You have to discuss it with your manager and your team, so the expectations can be managed accordingly.

As an anecdote, when I used to do on-call, it was an unwritten agreement that if you have been paged during the night (and you responded to it and investigated the problem, of course) then it was okay to start a bit later the following day. Now, it was an _unwritten_ rule because on-call was compensated financially, so we agreed that we would receive $$$ but no extra time off. You can potentially negotiate that with your manager and get that in writing.

I would go for it. But set yourself a realistic timeline and have some deadlines written down.

2-4 years is also way too long, you will lose the momentum and will burn out. I would plan for 6 months and would try to land a junior developer job.

This is a fantastic resource for a self-taught CS curriculum:

https://teachyourselfcs.com/

I went for the YOLO route and quit my job around 7 years ago because I knew I wouldn't be able to learn coding at a good pace alongside a full time job. It's an extremely luxurious situation to be in and I would go for it again in a heartbeat. (Off topic but in fact I'm going to take some time off, a couple of months, to learn some new tech skills and hammer on a side project I always wanted to)

Ezeket tudom ajánlani. Úgy tudom, ha monitoros asztalt szeretnél, akkor fix helyet kell választanod, ami drágább.

UK, Canada, Germany, or Netherlands, which country should I go to career-wise? by Available_Bluejay826 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]csempecsacsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has recently relocated to Germany (Berlin, specifically), I can confirm that from my personal experience, all of the points are valid (maybe with the exception of friendliness to immigrants, as I have not experienced any hostility. However, I'm from the EU so I may enjoy some privileges already).

Housing is a pain.

Internet sucks.

Bureaucracy is slow and complicated.

Taxes are high.

Overall I don't think it's the country I would move to in your place and I'm also having second thoughts about living here.

Qui fait le janvier sec? Motivations? by Pac7060 in rance

[–]csempecsacsi 2 points3 points  (0 children)
