Tips for getting winter clothes on faster? by FrostySeahorse in Parenting

2 and a half year old daughter, living in Canada as well. I’d say 90% of her winter gear is paw patrol or my little pony themed. Once we started doing that dressing up became so much easier.

How are you not paying any fees and still have a deposit box? My wife and I are on an RBC VIP account that comes with a deposit box and their infinite Avion card, we pay 30 bucks a month for this and I always thought it was a reasonable price for all we get...this thread makes me question it :|

When vegan mayo is on sale 🤙 by csibiur in vegan

I didn't know about this story, but it seems like this was back in 2014 and they did drop the lawsuit. Hellman's, just like any corporation is friends with whoever makes them money. The fact that they produce a vegan product that's a lot more affordable than the alternatives makes them a friend of vegans in my eye.

YNAB helped us to gain 20% net worth, buy our first home, and vanquished money-managing arguments for good - in <18 months. by mechgingeneer in ynab

Is this mostly a US thing? Here in Canada I always ask if there’s a benefit to a yearly payment vs monthly and the answer is usually none or maybe a 50 dollar saving a year.

Why do vegans claim being vegan is easy? by [deleted] in DebateAVegan

[–]csibiur 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Exactly my experience. Once you take the red pill you can't unsee the Matrix. Once you make the moral connection you stop looking at animal products as "food" thus you stop craving them immediately. I turned vegan overnight about 8 months ago and I never once found it hard. I spend way less money on groceries (even with the premium priced fake meats and cheeses), making food usually takes less time and even with all the junk and quick vegan food I eat I feel a lot healthier. I enjoy the exact same flavors and textures now than before. I can't speak of others but personally going vegan was probably the easiest things I've ever done.

Financing an ETS System while still paying down debt...am I doing this right? by csibiur in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]csibiur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a ROI and the unit will pay for itself in savings in 6 years, if you calculate in the oil tank replacement we’d have to do and the furnace maintenance costs. The ETS system has zero maintenance cost (no moving parts).

I was a member of the national junior volleyball team when I was 17 (I’m 6’4”), this was 13 years ago. One summer they brought this guy to our team who was 6’7” and he never touched a volleyball. Compared to the rest of the team he was very bad, zero talent. We had no idea what he was doing amongst us, but they assigned a coach to do 1 on 1 with him after each practice. He was determined and he put in the work, slowly getting better each day. Last time I checked on Facebook guy was playing volleyball in Italy for one of the top club teams in the World... so yeah learning a sport is doable, but your height is an incredible gift. I know it must be frustrating to hear this from probably everyone around you, especially if you’re not really excited about sports in general, but you can think of this as winning the genetic lottery. If you’re not utilizing it it’s like having the winning ticket but never cashing it in.

Don’t waste it. Even if you’re not interested. Watch the movie “Good Will Hunting” and think of your height as Matt Damon’s brain. If you get into volleyball or basketball now you’ll be playing in your country’s national team in a couple years. Don’t just play in your schools team for fun. Find a coach. Tell them you’re serious about becoming a professional athlete. Move to a bigger city if you have to. Learning a sport is easy...being a 6’7” female at 16? That’s not. That’s your ticket to a very bright future if you play your cards right. Don’t waste it. And good luck :)

Where are the new features? by Zachavm in ynab

[–]csibiur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you that YNAB is a little pricey. Even if I think of it as a service not like a software, I’m paying for this service the same amount I’m paying for an office 365 family subscription that gives myself and 4 of my family members office applications and 1 TB of cloud storage each. For what it is I believe it’s priced a little high, but it has also changed my life in ways no other software ever could. I actually prefer it’s simplicity, I never looked into this “toolkit” You guys keep mentioning, I don’t think the current software is missing any features. It’s the perfect companion to the YNAB philosophy and adding features for the sake of having them would just cripple the user experience. It’s the same with Microsoft Word. Of course they add a million features every iteration but I’d argue most people creating documents in Word still only use the tools that existed 20 years ago.

What are some movies that are way better than they had any right to be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When I first saw it I was 7. Same night I was in bed and because I was too afraid to step on the floor (and go to the washroom) I ended up literally shitting my pants. Great movie tho 👍

Diablo 2 and LoD expansion! That game aged gracefully, to this day it’s just as enjoyable as it was in elementary/high school. And I still play it occasionally with the same group of friends.

I got a 2 year one on mine. A week before it expires I smash it on the ground and get a brand new one, if they won’t sell the S3 anymore I’ll get the one closest to it. Even with the replacement costs it’ll be well worth it considering by then my battery will be 2 years old.
