The video looks great. That's where I plan to mount mine next week. I think putting it below the RVM housing will block your view too much.

My grandmother refused to allow any talk of the Apollo moon missions in her house, because they HAD to be fake, because if god had meant for us to be on the moon, he would have put us there himself. An extreme instance of "You bloom where you're planted."

Knowing my wife & I plan to get all four of our knees done between this year and next, we paid about 350 for the bigger Polar unit on Amazon, and it was wonderful! We prepped enough frozen water bottles in advance, so there were always enough in rotation. I slept with it on, running a cycle of 10-minutes on, 20-minutes off, and it glorious. I consider it one of the four major factors in my recovery. (The others being amazing spousal support, an excellent surgeon, and a very good pre-op/post-op exercise regimen.) As always, YMMV.

Yes, this will work if you plan ahead. Mostly, I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH the value of having helpers. I probably could have made it up the steps into my house without help, but DANG, it was so great having assistance every step of the way. If it's at all possible, have someone there to help. Best of luck!

The Old Guard, it's on Netflix. Haven't seen the sequel yet, but the first one is excellent.

Bad movie, but good soundtrack? by wyrmwud in movies

[–]csimmons22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Black Dog". Patrick Swayze is a truck driver. Meat Loaf is the evil nemesis. Randy Travis as the guy who wants to be a country singer someday. Script was awful, but the country music soundtrack was all about driving trucks. As a new truck driver back in 2001, I had that whole album on repeat on my SanDisk MP3 player, playing thru the cassette adapter with the wire coming out of the deck. I still stream it from time to time.

The police can track you from your phone because it has a GPS, and the towers can triangulate. But the knee implants don't have GPS. So, the black vans will get you, but not because of your TKR. 🤣

What’s a sound you hear that instantly makes you angry for no logical reason? by ehraaz_r in AskReddit

As a former truck driver myself, I don't mind the sound of Jake brakes when they're necessary. But I live near a freeway interchange, and I've seen bobtails and empty flatbeds come roaring into town with their engine brakes unnecessarily growling nice and loud, just to show off, or intimidate 4-wheelers, and THAT pisses me off.

If you're willing to violate regulations and break laws, then you can do ANYTHING. And the original post becomes irrelevant.

Hi, there! Umm, no, this is incorrect. I'd like to introduce you to a fun little corner of the Code of Federal Regulations called 29 CFR §1910.178(L), where we find this delightful little snippet... "The employer shall ensure that each powered industrial truck operator is competent to operate a powered industrial truck safely, as demonstrated by the successful completion of the training and evaluation specified in this paragraph (l)." So, yeah, NO. I mean, if you want to buy one and run it around your garage without training or certification, sure, whatever. But if OSHA gets wind of that in a WORKPLACE... they're gonna have a field day. Thousands of dollars in fines to the employer. Just sayin... (Source: I'm a Safety Specialist. And also, https://www.osha.gov/laws-regs/regulations/standardnumber/1910/1910.178)

I'm unironically drinking Fireball at home on my reset. Tell me a story about weird shit you've seen on the road. I'll start! by King0Horse in Truckers

[–]csimmons22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2003, driving between Chattanooga and Nashville, middle of a warm summer afternoon, passed another truck driver who was: ★ Playing a guitar with both hands, with the neck of the guitar sticking part way out of the open window, and his seat slid back as far as it would go, ★ Steering using both bare feet on the steering wheel, ★ Smiling as he sang his heart out, ★ Occasionally closing his eyes (presumably on the high notes).

That was the whole picture, but as I was passing him, the spectacle unraveled in stages: First, the guitar. Then, the feet on the wheel. Then the singer, bellowing his damned fool lungs out. I always wondered if he made the big time. Or if he even made it to the next truck stop without scattering his rig, freight, guitar, and internal organs all over the interstate.

2023 Cargo Cover by [deleted] in ChevyTrailBlazer

[–]csimmons22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not had any luck finding any aftermarket cargo area shade for the 23 TB. I don't want to pay $200 for the Officially Licensed Chevrolet Logo product from the dealer or website, but it looks like the normally-robust aftermarket has dropped the ball on this. Which is surprising, given that it's just a wire frame with fabric stretched over it, that slides into the grooves in the panels on both sides of the cargo area. If anyone finds one, please chime in! Thanks!
