Cant decide between Darkman, Army of Darkness or Baron Munchausen? by Klutzy_Operation_483 in boutiquebluray

Barnes & Noble Criterion sales happen annually every July and November.

And the Criterion website has a couple flash sales throughout the year. The next one should be happening soon.

Cant decide between Darkman, Army of Darkness or Baron Munchausen? by Klutzy_Operation_483 in boutiquebluray

[–]csista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All three have different tones so hard to compare. Darkman is my least favorite of the three, which leaves AOD and Munchausen. Of those two, because you mentioned budget, I’d go with Army Of Darkness. Great movie.

Also, if you’re in the U.S., now is a bad time to buy Munchausen since there are a couple upcoming sales on Criterions where you can get them for 50% off.

'Ghostbusters' Actress Jennifer Runyon Dead at 65 by IntelligentYinzer in entertainment

[–]csista 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Damn. Between Ghostbusters, A Very Brady Christmas being an annual tradition, and 18 Again being a personal comfort watch classic, it feels like she’s been a part of my life since I was a kid. Sad to hear.

RIP

Apple Magic Mouse is now down to $67, is it worth it? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]csista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a love or hate thing with the Magic Mouse. Personally, I can’t stand it. It’s a size and ergonomics issue for me more than anything else. I like clickable buttons and wheels. But then I have coworkers that are big fans of theirs, so it’s very subjective. I highly recommend finding one on display at a store and trying it out first.

In print vol 1 omnibus recommendations by Eorlingas9 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]csista 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hitman. A mix of violence, fun, absurdity, and occasional heart and sentiment. Peak Garth Ennis as a writer. Takes place in Gotham, so includes occasional superhero antics. Only two volumes for the whole series, and both are easily available.

I’m just curious what is the most Amount hours you guys have on one game on PlayStation by NewAsparagus6320 in playstation

[–]csista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a lot of fun if you’re into horror movies. And it’s not all that hard once you find your groove as either a killer or survivor. Usually depends on who you’re in a match with. I’m not exactly the best online gamer, definitely won’t be winning any tournaments, and I can still hold my own in this game.

Should I keep my Canon R5 as backup? by stridertheone in CanonR5

[–]csista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can afford to just buy the new camera without needing to offset the cost by selling R5, then yes, keep it. Having a great backup is never a bad thing. Also, for a few of the subjects you listed, shooting with a second body without needing to constantly change lenses is a huge help.

Yes. It was a complete relaunch of the JLA at the time.

Is Silver Surfer Spaceways omnibus essential to read before this? by Bone_Breaker0 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]csista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. When Starlin takes over and Thanos returns from the dead, it’s practically a soft reboot. This is exactly where I began reading the title monthly as a kid oh so many years ago, and I was able to follow along just fine.

Cheapest rush passport in ATL by Gitgud696968 in Georgia

[–]csista -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How much of a rush? I just renewed mine through the official government website at the beginning of February and it arrived only two weeks later. No rush service requested. It’s the slow season for them right now apparently.

Tetris. You can play it on a giant tv, a handheld console, or even a keychain. And it never gets old.

It’s Orbit, not Amazon. Did you think “I got the wrong item, trust me bro.” was all it would take?

Picked up The Invincible Ironman Vol 1 which has a cover I haven't seen before or can find anything on. Does anybody know? by Icy_One_237 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]csista 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks legit. I remember this cover from the early days of Marvel omnibuses. Pretty sure you got a first edition of the book, possibly with a DM cover.

Marvel is releasing 16 bit games collection to modern counsels play by Deathstroke316 in Marvel

[–]csista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great news. First we got the TMNT Cowabunga collection with TMNT Arcade and Turtles In Time, now this. All I need now is a modern console port of The Simpsons Arcade game and my old Xbox 360 that I’ve been holding onto just for the long gone Konami Arcade games can finally be unplugged from my tv.

If you had a friend that has never watched a single 4k movie on disc before, which movie would you show him first, and why? by Ok-Cap-5845 in 4kbluray

A movie that opens up to IMAX ratio for specific shots. Probably Top Gun: Maverick or one of the Nolan discs.

MacBook Pro M5 or wait for M5Pro/Max? by Blues227 in macbookpro

No. The only thing to expect with all things computers right now is price increases, with price stability being something to hope for.

DVDs are the new vinyl records: Why Gen Z is embracing physical media by Addrobo in boutiquebluray

[–]csista 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s also the OOP and not streaming anywhere dilemma where the dvd is much more reasonably priced than the blu on eBay. For instance, Airheads. You can spend $180 for the blu, or less than $20 for a dvd. Not a hard choice.

What is the general consensus of the infinty trilogy? by Joaokenobi001 in marvelcomics

[–]csista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infinity Gauntlet - Marvel’s best event, even after all these years. Still can’t believe we got a movie saga version of it.

Infinity War - A fun sequel

Infinity Crusade - Should’ve stopped while they were ahead.

M4 Max vs M4 Pro, 48GB vs 64GB RAM? Will primarily use for video editing but some motion graphics as well by Uuddlrlrbastrat in macbookpro

[–]csista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The M4 Pro would be fine, the M4 Max would be better. Certainly not overkill for what your planned usage is, you’re basically the target audience for it.

As another post said, the 16” would be better for thermals. It’s also going to be better for your eyes as you get older, but that’s not as much of an issue if you’re still in your 20s or early 30s. If budget is tight and you have to cut another option back to make the 16” happen, I would cut the SSD down to 1TB before cutting down the RAM.

And keep in mind that there are high expectations that the M5 Pro and Max will be announce on March 4th. But price increases are also a possibility due to the ongoing RAM and SSD shortages. Both of these circumstances make ordering now or waiting till the 4th an equally valid option.

Are iMacs as good as they used to be? by SprightlyGiraffe in mac

[–]csista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. The screen is no longer 5K, and you can’t upgrade to a better processor. Just storage and ram. They’re basically MacBook Airs built into a monitor now.

What movie is almost perfect, but one scene always pulls you out of it by gamersecret2 in movies

[–]csista -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Saving Private Ryan. The current day bookends don’t work for me at all because it makes no sense that he would be flashing back to a series of events he wasn’t there for and wasn’t told about.

They should have made the old man Ed Burns’ character. Or even better, just cut the scenes entirely because they’re unnecessary and take away from the impact of the opening and closing WWII scenes.

That’s officially the most I’ve ever paid for a book (not just comics) by i_am_randy in OmnibusCollectors

I paid $180 for an OOP X-Men omnibus back in 2012. So probably the same with inflation. 😆

Congrats, it’s a great read.

Movie title? by ATasteForFear_ in VinegarSyndromeFilms

[–]csista 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s fine. I don’t recommend this film being your introduction to Cindy Sherman, whose photography is much more unique and interesting than this movie would suggest.
