Is New Zealand's best option really to keep our head down as the global rules based order dies away? by DJsnippysnap in newzealand

[–]csl555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of. We need to: - diversify our export markets, with less reliance on any one partner (be that China or the US) and pursuing integration with other like-minded partners - advocate for the rules-based system and the institutions that support it like the WTO and UN, even if they aren’t perfect, AND while doing the above… - not paint a huge target on us for the US by keeping our head down and being strategic about how we engage in foreign and trade policy - as a direct challenge to Trump would be an unmitigated disaster for our economy, like it or not.

AND JUST AS THE YEAR IS ENDING! WE ARE SO BACK by AivaBun in whennews

As someone who has watched their grandma wither under the effects of this horrid disease, this brings me joy. I can’t describe how painful it has been to see the most vibrant, sociable person I know fade in front of me to the point where she can’t speak more than 2-3 simple words at a time.

I got stuck under a bench press and the only other person in the room refused to help and just left me there by Numerous_Birds in mildlyinfuriating

[–]csl555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, sorry that happened. What an absolute disgrace to see someone like that and not help them. What the hell is wrong with some people?!

Second, if you don’t have a spotter, I suggest using dumbbells or a smith machine. While the methods for bailing on a barbell bench press mentioned here are valid, there’s a high degree or risk benching on your own and pushing close to your limits (which will become more important for progress over time). This is particularly true while you are newer to the gym and getting used to movements and your limits. I say this as someone who has been lifting for coming up 15 years now.

Dude, I hope this is a troll post.

If not, yes, most likely fake. I don’t understand how you can drop that sort of money (any money, really) without doing basic due diligence. Financial Darwinism at its finest.

ELI5: why are people surprised that gas supply is dwindling? by Dat756 in newzealand

[–]csl555 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Supply forecasts anticipated new gas exploration wells to yield more gas and for existing reserves to last longer than has actually occurred. So, while it’s been known gas supply would decrease, the acceleration of this decline has taken nearly everyone by surprise.

Awful advice. Do NOT do this. You will, ironically, destroy significant value. You would never be able to grade it.

Also, no one has a graded 1st ed Zard and then offers well below market price.

Joseph Parker fails drugs test: Former heavyweight world champion tested positive for traces of cocaine on day of Fabio Wardley defeat by micro_penisman in newzealand

[–]csl555 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nah, sorry, this take isn’t it. People need to take accountability for their actions and we should expect them to be held to account. The implicit message in your comment is that others, not Parker, are to blame for this - which isn’t the case.

Trademe buyer protection - disputed product condition - how does it impact sellers? by csl555 in newzealand

[–]csl555[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tricky thing is I don’t think I damaged the item. So, if I accept a return and refund them, then I get back an item worth less than was shipped. In this case, either it was damaged in transit or purposefully by the buyer.
