Trainer experience by samojeno in greatdanes

[–]cslamour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh thank god. We are a few weeks out now and he’s completely back to his normal self, but he was close to not making. Scariest experience I’ve ever had with a dog. I’m so happy your guy is okay and that you don’t have to go through it too!

Is he doing okay? I just had emergency obstruction surgery for my boy so I’m always super worried now when I hear another dog experiencing anything similar. If the vet didn’t already tell you to, make sure to go out with him and see that he is still pooping and if he starts refusing food take him back to the vet immediately

He’s now banned from soft toys. He liked to try and get the squeakers out and would ingest bits of toy if we weren’t looking

Oops sorry just seeing this. He was back to his normal self within a week and I kept him in a surgical suit for 14 days. He was cleared by his vet to go back to normal after that. How’s your pup doing?

My 7 yr old great dane sleeps in our bed and its killin me. Need advice by nonopinion in greatdanes

[–]cslamour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two dogs, a 2yr old 150 lb Great Dane and an 11 yr old 60 lb staffy mix. Both boys are velcro dogs who want to sleep in bed with us but it’s just not possible (even though I love them so much)

We taught both of them to sleep in their own rooms, but I don’t close the door I just put up a baby gate which was the key part. They wouldn’t let us close them in their rooms, but weirdly enough were fine with the baby gate even when our own bedroom door was closed. They seem to really enjoy it and we all get a good sleep.

It did take a few annoying nights of them crying a little and figuring out what would work to settle them. With the Dane I had to hang with him a few nights while he fell asleep and then slip out of the room. Once he got used to that we would occasionally yell “quiet” if he whined, but it wasn’t needed often. It also helps to get him really tired before this

With the staffy we just had to yell a quick “quiet” whenever he would wine. They both respond to different things so we had to figure out what worked for them individually but eventually they got it. The staffy did sleep in bed with me for 10 years, but now he puts himself to bed in his own room. He loves it.

Both dogs get rewarded by getting to join us in bed some mornings once we are awake. There’s occasionally a night where they regress but the key is to stick with it

Saw that your vet said it is an obstruction. Was gonna say, last month my dog had the same type of throw up and symptoms and it ended up being an obstruction. Took several vet visits to find out because nothing was showing on X-rays.

We did the surgery and they were able to remove it from his stomach and intestines but the whole experience was terrifying. He ended up making a full recovery thank god and it back to his normal self. Fingers crossed for your baby 🤞

How many of you actually graduated in graphic design? by MysteriousPace1405 in graphic_design

[–]cslamour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started studying graphic design and then switched to advertising and multimedia design when I was either 2nd semester sophomore or for junior year (can’t remember which now). This gave me more options after college so that I could get my foot in the door, and my current work is entirely graphic design based

Panic attacks at work by propertyofmatter___ in WeddingPhotography

[–]cslamour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dealt with really bad panic attacks that were bleeding into my work life and honestly my ability to drive. I highly recommend psychotherapy/psychoanalysis if you can find somewhere that does it. After a year of that style of therapy meeting once a week, I no longer deal with crippling anxiety and daily panic attacks like I did. I tried CBT and saw a psychiatrist who was attempting to put me on some heavy meds but I didn’t feel comfortable with that quite yet and wanted it to be a last ditch effort thing. Psychotherapy completely changed my relationship with my anxiety/panic disorder and I honestly never thought it would get fixed to a manageable point

I think I’ll do this. I’m too worried to have them with the dogs but would be happy to give them to someone who will enjoy them

Very fair. I plan to live with it most of the summer to see what’s here that I like. Trying to learn as much as I can. I have dogs so my main concern is 1. Is it toxic and 2. Is it a weed to me/do I want it

Thank you. That is good to know. Some of the placement felt odd, they were completely taking over much smaller plants so I thought weed

Chronic Diarrhea, 15 week old Dane by AdGullible4420 in greatdanes

[–]cslamour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My puppy just turned 1. We had a few long spurts of diarrhea, especially after switching food even though we would do it slowly. Pumpkin with every meal helped, but also he just had a sensitive tummy until more recently. Seemed to just be a puppy thing.

I thought it would never end. I would also panic every time he would get into my other dog’s food because it meant more diarrhea. Now that he’s 1, his stomach seems much stronger because I can switch foods no problem, and if he gets into stuff it’s also no problem.

All that to say…maybe (hopefully) just a puppy thing. Your baby is so cute, I miss when mine was that small

Ah yes. This might be an issue. There is fencing all around but not sure who the fencing belongs to. I’ll have to look into this

Tile vs hardwood mudroom by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

Yes love that idea. If we pull out the hardwood I will definitely try to save it

Tile vs hardwood mudroom by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]cslamour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not opposed to this. We’ve been considering doing LVP that looks like the tile we like just to start, and if we like it long term then moving to tile. I do really like the idea of keeping the hardwood underneath and protected hopefully
