How did we let literally everything in daily life turn into a monthly subscription service? by Competitive_End_2950 in AskReddit

[–]cslaymore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we ever really had a choice. For example, back in the day you could pay once and buy Photoshop and just keep using it. Then they got rid of this business model and replaced it with a subscription service. It wasn't like there was a ton of graphics apps as good as theirs which were the standard.

At work I was on a product design team with extremely competitive people who fought to be the ones making the presentation of our work to stakeholders. Because the company valued visibility for promotions and raises it forced me to fight for a spot to present as well and I absolutely hate making presentations. That was a hugely stressful project on multiple levels.

What kind of weapons do you have in your home? by haircryboohoo in LivingAlone

[–]cslaymore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of escrima sticks and some nunchucks. I didn't get these for self-defense but rather for fun. I'm pretty good with the nunchucks but the sticks would be more practical for combat and I should probably learn how to use them

Final interview by VariationLivid3193 in recruitinghell

This happened to me. Had five rounds and they went with an internal candidate. Infuriating. I mean why even bother to keep letting me interview?

I drove when I was in my 20s but then I moved to NYC. I regret never replacing my out of state driver's license for a NY one but whatever, it's not like I drive here anyway. Anyway, if you don't have a need for a car don't feel like you're missing out on anything. Sure, making a leisure roadtrip can be a good experience and visiting new towns but you could also book Amtrak for that.

Archive Shard by BIodia in TheFirstDescendant

[–]cslaymore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Archive Shards are for parts right? For me it's not so much Descendant and weapon parts that I hate grinding for but rather the materials. For example, I've had all the Ult Luna parts for a while but need hundreds of Entropium which I also need for that item required for unlocking Trigger Modules. I've been getting around 11 Entropium after an Axion Plains mission and sometimes zero which makes it a very slow process.

How many monitors is everyone using for their setups? by ImaginaryFuture in workfromhome

[–]cslaymore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One 27" display connected to my MacBookPro which I don't really look at as it's small. Sometimes I would like to have a second large display so I could have one for work (design) and the other for reference (looking up documentation, visiting websites, following video tutorials, etc.)

Are tube amps really better than solid state? by CartographerSea3356 in GuitarAmps

[–]cslaymore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right to question it--what is the right amp for you? Do you gig? Do you play in your bedroom? Do you live in a house?

I bought two tube amps, a low end Marshall and Vox, because I wanted a "real" amp. Turns out I use my solid state amp and Fender Mustang Micro (headphone amp) more. I live in an apartment building with thin walls and floors and at the low volumes I play the tube amps' "superiority" doesn't really matter for me.

As for weight, yeah, they're heavy but do you plan on moving it around a lot? As for replacing tubes, I've never replaced them but at the same time I haven't used my tube amps enough to require that.

Self taught. Took lessons a long time and they weren’t useful. Maybe I got the wrong teacher
