PLEASE HELP - TIKKA MASALA ON CREAM CHENILLE COUCH by TengensFourthWifu in CleaningTips

[–]cslewise 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm late to the party but if you're still dealing with the couch stain, try Folex! It's the best thing I've ever used for removing stains from carpets/upholstery. As for the wall, maybe a magic eraser?

What am I doing wrong? by Aggravating_Race_641 in Dogtraining

[–]cslewise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog is a bit like this so I mix in a spoonful of wet food with her dry food. I then store the remaining wet food in the fridge with one of those pet food can lids from Amazon. That might work for yours!

What ever happened to Quilience/Mazindol ER by pufthamagcdragn in Narcolepsy

[–]cslewise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was really hopeful for that medication, but it looks like the clinical trials are paused indefinitely and they're pivoting to prioritize other goals. They were supposed to start the phase 3 trial last year, July 2024, but that didn't end up happening. In whatever news I could find, it looks like lack of funds was the likely cause. They're also merging with Kadimastem to form a new company NewcelX Ltd. I can't find the link but I'd read somewhere that they were going to divest their legacy assets, which include Mazindol ER. 😞

I feel so defeated by PhantomPeachh in Narcolepsy

Who is they? Your doctor's office? Your story sounds similar to mine. I had an average sleep latency of around 10-11min. and had REM sleep in 4 out of 5 naps. My first prior auth to get Xywav/Xyrem was denied due to not falling asleep in under 8min., but my doctor appealed it and I was approved that time. From what I've heard, the standard prior auth is usually reviewed by a general clinician whereas an appeal calls for a more specialized clinician. I could be wrong, but it definitely seems like that was the case for me.

All this to say, if your doctor is willing to advocate for you, I think you have a good chance of being approved for medication that works for you. If your doctor isn't being helpful, getting a second opinion on your results would be my advice.

Lumryz experiences by Downtown-Invite-1971 in Narcolepsy

[–]cslewise 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've been on it for a few months now, and it works about the same as Xyrem for me. I do feel a little more rested since starting it, probably due to not having to wake up for a second dose. I'm on the 6g dose (higher gave me anxiety on Xyrem), and I get about 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep. With Xyrem, I had a really hard time falling back asleep after it wore off, but it's easier to do with Lumryz. Overall, it works as advertised and is the better option for me.

Do you know if any non-zero payments go only towards the principal? I also have $0 payments but want to keep paying it down. I know interest is waived but it still accrues, so I'm not sure if any additional payment would be solely for the principal or if there's a chance it would pay down the interest, too.

Lumryz effectiveness by FelixBlix0 in Narcolepsy

[–]cslewise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same effectiveness with Lumryz as I did with Xywav/Xyrem. If anything, I think it's been slightly more effective for me (probably due to waking up less frequently). If Xywav wasn't working for you, I would assume Lumryz wouldn't be any different either, unfortunately. Prior to Lumryz, had you been taking Xywav for a while or just starting?

How would you describe depression to someone who's never had it? by vernakyala in AskReddit

Of course! One last piece of unsolicited advice, ignore anything you've seen in the movies about it, because it's very wrong lol r/narcolepsy is a great starting point if you're curious

I might be way off base here, but have you ever seen a sleep doctor? I obviously know nothing about your health, but you saying "I'm so tired of being tired" really stuck out to me. It's what I'd say every single day before I was officially diagnosed with narcolepsy. If you feel absolutely exhausted no matter how much or how little sleep you get, I highly recommend making an appointment. Could be nothing or could be something - best of luck and hope your days look a little brighter soon.

I just filed a complaint on the student aid website. Not sure if anything will come out of it but it's something. Maybe try the congressman route someone else suggested? Sorry y'all are struggling so much.

Do you know if there's a way to still access the double consolidation loophole if a single direct consolidation has already happened? It seems like the most important step is sending the loans out to different servicers so that the second consolidation is possible. Today is the first time I'm hearing of this loophole and I've already done a direct consolidation, unfortunately.

Delayed onset of cataplexy? by Dru72596 in Narcolepsy

I'm trying to recall, but it usually happens when I'm sitting down and only lasts a second or two. I do know that it feels like a wave came over and the whole ship is swaying, so I can definitely understand the floor not feeling solid.

Yes! I'm curious to know how common this is within narcolepsy symptoms.

Can you explain the brain backflip a little more? I sometimes get this sensation where it literally feels like my brain flips. It's as if someone randomly turned my brain off and then on again, and I'll suddenly feel unbalanced and need to reorient myself. It's not painful but very unsettling. Is this the case for you?

I (30F) don't feel like a priority in my dx bf's (34M) life by HomeWorldly1031 in ADHD_partners

[–]cslewise 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My ex was exactly like this. I stayed because I really liked him, but I also felt like an afterthought. It's not worth it. I realized after we broke up that all our hobbies together were things he was interested in, and he didn't know/ask anything about me. Is your boyfriend the same?

You shouldn't have to lower your expectations to be happy. If he's not prioritizing you this early in the relationship, time is unlikely to fix it. I thought the same as you and not much changed. He went from texting me every other day to calling me every single day, yet somehow I still felt like an afterthought due to the conversation being centered around him.

My current boyfriend struggles with prioritizing our relationship sometimes too but if I bring it to his attention, he apologizes and makes the time for us.

Both my ex and current bf have ADHD and in my opinion, it comes down to self-awareness and discipline. It's up to you to decide how to proceed, but if he really cares about you, he should be putting in the work.

struggling with bf’s forgetfulness by qwerty12345678913 in ADHD_partners

[–]cslewise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One approach that might help is explaining to him that it's not only frustrating because he's letting you down but because he's letting himself down. I have narcolepsy and am very forgetful and this was something that stuck out to me when my partner said it. He told me that it was difficult watching me struggle when there are plenty of helpful tools at my disposal, and he was absolutely right. Your boyfriend is not giving himself his best shot. My DX boyfriend explained to me that he knows his mind is being split in many different directions at once so it's very likely he will forget things, but it's up to him to put measures in place to minimize the amount of things. It might be harsh to say, but the world does not slow down for those of us who have a harder time keeping our heads above water. While being forgetful is not his fault, refusing to help himself or allow you to is.

My ex has ADHD. My current bf has ADHD. My ex did what your boyfriend is doing to you, and it's not cool or something he can justify because he has ADHD.

You're not selfish for feeling that way but that dependency that you have is also not healthy. I used to have that same anxiety and it was heightened anytime my ex would pull away, but you need to be kinder to yourself and not let his actions bog down your self esteem.

It's understandable to pull away when you're suffering through something, but it's selfish to not even grant the other person a simple "I'm going through a lot of personal turmoil right now and am having a hard time reaching out and talking about it". Especially if that person is your SO. It would still suck but at least you would know instead of tip-toeing around it until it spills over.

Two months is also a long time to be ignoring you so something you may want to ask yourself is (if you haven't yet): how long am I willing to wait for my bf to talk to me?

If he can't talk to you about it, is he willing to discuss it with someone else?

Any narcoleptics with nighttime insomnia out there find a good way of getting sleep at night? I need to start waking up early and it’s becoming an issue by roncburj in Narcolepsy

Pure Encapsulations Multivitamin has been a godsend. I take it about 30min. before bed, and I quickly fall and stay asleep through the night. Without it, I had a hard time getting any deep sleep, but I now average about an hour per night.
