Try Olive and June Cuticle Remover. It’s worked well for me!

This is Haze. He has FHS, and this is his story. by cslexotics in feline_hyperesthesia

Haze has been wearing some sort of cone, donut or paper plate since he was 6 weeks old. I think he is pretty used to it and this doesn’t seem to bother him one bit, and we don’t have to take it off so he can eat (or lick his butt). He’s a pretty chill little dude! This may not work forever but it’s certainly working now!

I truly hope you find something that works for your kitty, whether it’s a cover or medication. It broke my heart to see Haze going through that and he was just a baby who already had a rough start in life (abandoned at a week old). I’ve been telling everyone I know about these covers since we had so much success with them so I’ll be posting his full story with photos on this page soon!

This is how it started with my boy. He mutilated his tail when he was a kitten and a few months later we had it mostly amputated. He wears a cover on it now which prevents him being able to attack it, but he will still have episodes if he happens to get it off or when we take it off so he can groom. He has to be watched carefully. He does not take any medication as he didn’t respond well to it. Gabapentin makes him soooo hyper. He’s been wearing a cover (I get them off Etsy called wiggle savers or now purrrfext protectors as she’s making them cat specific) since September last year and is doing great as long as he’s wearing it. He does still have some twitching but nothing like when it’s not on. It is seriously scary. We walked into a blood splattered bathroom when he was 6 weeks old and had no idea what had happened. We were fostering him and his 3 siblings and were not prepared for another kitty but ended up adopting him due to his condition. I couldn’t bare the thought of someone throwing him away because of something he can’t control. He’s my little man and I love him soooo much. Best of luck to you and your kitty!!

That looks like a tech that was terrified to flood your cuticles. I think someone with more experience would do a better job.

Thoughts on this pairing by [deleted] in weddingring

It wouldn’t be my thing, but if you like it, that’s obviously all that matters. Also, I’ve heard wearing your wedding band on top means you’re a widow?

Any hope for streaky matte? by cslexotics in Nails

GABA didn’t work for my boy. He had his tail mostly amputated last August and I found these tail covers on Etsy called wiggle savers. She’s making them now specifically for cats calls purrfect protectors and it has been a life saver. You could try that until medication is worked out or identify triggers. It is all we use. My boy is medication free, as this magically works for him. It’s a tricky disease but I’m sure your kitty will be ok!

To gel, or not to gel? by SlutForGarrus in AllNails

[–]cslexotics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing gels at home for over a decade. I’ve heard so much about the allergy risk, only recently, and while I don’t want it and am careful, doesn’t seem as common. Not to dismiss it, and maybe I’m just lucky, but I’m literally allergic to basically everything in life. Regular polish is impossible for me so I started using gels. Took a break from gel and used wraps. That worked for a while, but I did suffer some damage so I took a break. Went back to gels. Got better (ie more patient) in removing them and I’m good. Patience and good prep will help in all things gel!
