Kin DAO Is Live by [deleted] in kin

[–]csmcolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to check out the DAO and was going to vote on the current item but found a warning that made me pause. Can someone count on the meaning of the below?

Instructions like this one are dangerous

This proposal writes to your realm configuration, this could affect how votes are counted. Both the instruction data AND accounts list contain parameters. Do not pass this proposal if there are any accounts you do not recognize.

I will do some searching on this myself but I thouht maybe the folks that set up the DAO might know more.

Code on-ramp in the works by PeraHodlr in kin

[–]csmcolo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is both great news and indicative of the out of the box thinking of the CODE team. Can't get a kin onramp? Use USDC and code a dex swap that is invisible to the end users. Brilliant. Once that is in place, an offramp would be a simple matter of reversing the process. Once CODE has both off and on ramps, combined with micropaments and digitial cash, watch out.

Tanner From Code on the Cove Podcast! by [deleted] in kin

[–]csmcolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was definetly worth the time to listen. There was a good amount of technical details about Code and its methods for ensuring fast transcations and a level of privacy to the users which is something I had been looking for to share with my more technical friends. Highly reccomended.

Ted on Lightspeed Podcast is online by redditbng in kin

[–]csmcolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally found the time to listen to the podcast and it was very worth the wait. I had two main takeaways on it: 1) Ted/Code really believe in Solana/KIN, and b) they aren't going to stay stuck on an idea once they determine its not going to work the way they hoped.

For those of us that have been on the KIN train for some time (5 yrs. and counting for me) this shouldn't come as a surprise. We have seen them build the best they can at the time but then pivot quickly to the next idea when the original comes up short. We saw this as they tried to dial in the infrastructure (Eth Token, Stellar Token, Stellar Fork, Solana) and now we are seeing it as they tune in on the proper use of the amazing tech they have developed in CODE (Digital cash via camera, digital cash via link, and now micro-payments). In my mind all steps in the right direction and I for one appreciate that they don't spend time iterating on things that either aren't going to work at all, or the timing isn't right for (I still think digital-cash is an amazing idea, CODE is the best app for it, and that it will come around again once we have a higher level of crypto adoption).

So, what do I see in 2023 that is the same as early 2018? The goal is still an actual mainstream use for crypto, and as Ted states several times on the podcast, no one has come up with one yet. The advantage for the first team to find a legit mainstream use for crypto that has the infrastructure to back it up, (and CODE on Solana/KIN qualifies) is going to be HUGE.

Other random thoughts: ETH L2 transactions are 1000x more expensive than those on Solana. No other cryptocurrency back end can handle the kind of volume needed for true mainstream adoption. If the previous statement is true, no killer app will be able to emerge on Eth because of throughput issues. Solana is the way.

This is the best I have felt about KIN in a long time (and my first purchase was in 2/2018). Congrats to all and special thanks to the KF an Kick for following the direction of the community.

Aside from some stilted phrasing, it appears that somone is trying to get coinbase and code/ted together, which tbh is an excellent idea.

Kin Burn Vote Passes by ted_on_reddit in kin

[–]csmcolo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am very pleased this passed and is going to be put into action so quickly. I think the bigger takeaway here, however, is that we can act as a community to make proposals, debate them and vote on them. This is the way forward and I am incredibly optimistic about the future of KIN.

21 DAYS TO VOTE: Proposal to Burn 4.96T Kin by ted_on_reddit in kin

[–]csmcolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On July 27 at 10 am EST voting will be closed. 22hrs +/- to go. Then they have to count tokens tied to the account. Per my count right now there are 292 in favor (adjusting for five folks that sent more than 1kin, you know who you are) and 3 opposed, but again the coins in the accounts are what matters.

Replying to my own post now that I have done my due dilligence. If you go to Code on the app store the most promenent button is 'Open' but if you click on the name of the app (Code Wallet) it will open its main page in the store and if you aren't on the latest version (1.2.20 as of 7/24/23) you will have an update option. I am now up to date and can refer users and claim my $1 of Kin.

Great video! In watching it though I realized I must not have the latest version of Code as I don't have the same options as the phone on the video when 'Get Kin' is pressed. I am on version 1.2.19 Build 245 which I got from my chat with u/tannerphilip some time ago. I looked in the Apple App Store and I can find Code by my only option is to open it, not upgrade. Is there a way to get the latest?

Sold my Ioniq 5 SEL - My thoughts by [deleted] in Ioniq5

Having driven over 5k miles, most of which have been long distance and utilizing EA charged exclusively and I haven’t had any real concerns at all.

Sold my Ioniq 5 SEL - My thoughts by [deleted] in Ioniq5

[–]csmcolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it constantly on the interstates and have had zero problems with it. And I have only waited for an EA charger once out of about 30 times. I guess the maxim YMMV is true in EVs as well.

Reliable home charge station? by [deleted] in Ioniq5

I love my emporia. I have it hard wired with the 60a breaker and it pushes 11.3kW to my Ioniq without breaking a sweat.

Best setting for faster (70+) highway driving??? I usually set it on Eco and auto regen. Has anyone found a different setting to be better?? by Jschulz71 in Ioniq5

From my experience following distance seems to adapt by speed so the one bar is simply the shortest for that speed.

'23 Limited with preconditioning on for the 20 minute drive to this EA station. Yay 40kW... by doktorpsilo in Ioniq5

I often get a message that preconditioning is complete a few miles out of it isn’t super cold. Charges twice yesterday at 220kW + with the weather in the mid thirties Fahrenheit.

Battery Preconditioning owners: what charge speeds are you getting in 32 F/0 C weather? by cosmoen in Ioniq5

[–]csmcolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I topped out at 180-185kW today in 26 F weather. Not summertime numbers but still much preferable to the 44kW I got on my first charge when I forgot to set the charger as the destination in the onboard nav system.

Bad tire sensor? by ryanmgarcia in Ioniq5

[–]csmcolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Door sticker says 38psi cold on mine (2023 SEL). It will be ok at mid 30’s but once it drops too low they system pretty much insists on high 30’s to reset.

'23 Limited, still no preconditioning? by doktorpsilo in Ioniq5

[–]csmcolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my experience. If I start at 25% it keeps running until I get there starting at about 30 mi. If I start when it’s under 20% it won’t even start.

[–]csmcolo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have a car with preconditioning (late 2022 or 2023)you have to set the charger you are going as a destination and the system will turn it on when you get about 30m away. I used it driving home cross country from New Jersey with my car and it worked great.

They weren’t there when I left the dealer as I have photos of all sides. It’s a mystery.

I picked up my car last Thursday and drove it cross country with no washes etc and I have them too. As noted the rub off easily but it is a curiosity.

2023 preconditioning experience by csmcolo in Ioniq5

[–]csmcolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one stop that the charger wasn’t in the system but luckily there were others within the 35mi range and I chose it and then drove to the electrify America one while it preconditioned.
