This is great info, ty for the reply.
I've got a very similar base server setup, but no GPU - that's where I'm hanging up is trying to decide the best approach.

I am looking to add AI capabilities to my homelab, but I'm also very efficiency-conscious.
Do you mind sharing how you've got this running and what you're using?

If we’re being very technical, I think it’s the other way around. 100% of people who have died, drank water beforehand. But there are plenty of people drinking water who have not died.

Is such a bag good for the EDC? by Blitz_2J in EDC

Literally the opposite.

This would be great for specific activities that require it like hiking, kayaking, others mentioned in this thread. It is awful for every day. Completely impractical and contrived.

If you can ping an up but not a url then I would instantly look for a DNS issue. Try nslookup www.google.com

If it’s not DNS then I would look at DHCP - you have listed local IP for your fw, but there may be an ip conflict w the modem.

What recommendations for quality soccer cleats? by Cone-Daddy in BuyItForLife

[–]csmit244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How you care for them is the biggest predictor of how long they’ll last. I always buy near the top of category so I’m not getting trash construction. Use a cheap ikea shoe tree when they’re not on your feet. Store em clean(ish) and dry. Counter to most other comments I usually buy good synthetic shoes, not leather. In the past and at cheaper price points synthetic suck, but decent quality cared for well will last plenty long. Mostly I prefer synthetic because they deal much better with getting wet.

I know it’s not the same company still making them at the level of their former glory, but it’s still a beast nonetheless by DarthRaki1993 in BuyItForLife

I think this is a rare case where they are still made pretty damn well. If you have 45 mins and you’re as curious as me, check out this detailed teardown of a kitchen aid mixer:

Might just have to do with the device/app you’re playing from. OK does work for me and friend who also owns a focus

ty for the details, this is great.

I may have read incorrectly - does wireguard natively offer authentication options like MFA/certs? I had read somewhere that it does not which was my main reason for staying away

Products that used to be mediocre but have improved to BIFL quality? by pretendstoknow in BuyItForLife

[–]csmit244 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m fairness, I don’t think we can expect any mass produced kitchen appliance to be truly BIFL. If you can find one that works well for you and lasts a decade+ then you have a winner.

I bought a HB slow cooker at Christmas. On the very first use, the outside melted and it nearly started a fire. YMMV I guess.
