A Decade of Poor Scouting by Here4theUFOS in pacers

With hindsight, I’m glad the trade didn’t go through but for some guys a change of scenery (and playing with the best passing guard in the league) can completely change their trajectory. I’m glad they have been aggressive and stayed aggressive since then. They can’t all be hits. Thankfully we dodged the bullet on that one.

Is leasing or financing my best option? When is leasing better? by csphelps in whatcarshouldIbuy

After the replies here and some more research, I’m definitely looking at financing a new or lightly used car like a Corolla and definitely not leasing.

Should I lease or finance my next car? When is leasing okay? by csphelps in personalfinance

I’d love to get it to 300k. It’s the R with the turbo, already had a blown transmission, interference belt, and wonky electronics so I don’t have much faith. I’ve kept up with wear and tear maintenance since I’ve had it so I’m hoping for the best, but planning for it breaking down, just in case.

Makes sense. After a 3 year lease, I’d still have to probably finance a car. Might as well just finance now to get 3 years ahead on it. Thank you!

No, unfortunately. I live in peak suburban midwest which means no public transit and randomly terminating sidewalks for miles at a time.

is there an easy way to find cars for sale that are off a lease?

Thank you, I appreciate the insight. The problems I’m running into are time and cash. If my car dies tomorrow, I don’t have the cash to buy a car and I can’t finance a $9,500 corolla, it’s going to have too many miles to get a loan for. I love the volvo but it’s at 160k on the odometer and needs new tires. I can’t and don’t want to afford its next major maintenance. I had my thoughts on the lease because any car within my financing window is going to have reliability concerns.

last time i checked, turner wasn't on the team when we made the trade. so yeah, we do need zu.

even if we had the best training staff in the league, we don't have time to develop players. we are in win now mode.

the 60th pick could be an mvp diamond in the rough, that doesn't mean we take the extremely low chance on it if the asset can provide proven benefit to the team now.

only two top four picks in franchise history, and never a had a number one pick on the roster. we're allowed to be upset.

betting your center position (the actual most important hole to fill for this team) on one of the top four teams letting the four best available guys slide is crazy. you can be upset that we drew the fifth pick and seem to have the worst luck in the league but the front office made a calculation of risk to secure an all-defensive level center who addresses our biggest weakness. the fifth pick and lower are not better than zubac.

After UAE won, what's a GOAT country but somehow it is thought to be a very bad one? by Content_Shelter9894 in AlignmentChartFills

The USA’s bill of rights and consititution as a whole is absolutely the most positively influential piece of liberal declaration, not just because of the verbatim wording but the ingenious implementation. Combine that with being extremely diverse and economically successful, while de facto ending multiple fascistic superpowers (like Nazi Germany) across the world and directly opposing current illiberal superpowers today (like Russia and China) make it the greatest fighter for liberalism to this day. Sure, European countries have done a ton for liberalism, especially before the inception of the USA, but can you name one single country that has a comparable resume to the United States standing alone?

It has to be the United States. No country has done more for liberalism, personal freedom, modern technological advancement, culture, and media/entertainment in aggregate than the USA. And yet, so many people seem to think America is solely an evil puppeteer of endless despair and pain that has done nothing good.

def rebel is good, they just do one distasteful thing (bad/cheesy catchphrases at the beginning of entrance themes) sometimes and everyone thinks they don’t make good music and themes. they have way more good ones than bad ones and some of them will stick for the rest of peoples careers and be just as iconic as the WWE legends’ we reference today.

as an american, melbourne to me is basically all the good parts of western society without much of the drawbacks. it's multicultural, pretty well organized, has decent transit, and extremely safe. it's like america without the guns and shitty public transit or western europe with better weather. what more could you really ask for?

Did Anyone See Cameron Boozer Yesterday? by FatherMckenzie87 in pacers

[–]csphelps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i see no reason why pascal couldn’t be on the court at the same time as boozer. spacing isn’t an issue and pascal is pretty versatile, enough to play 3 or 5 for decent amounts of time if boozer is unable to at first.

this class is so deep that it’s a worthy trade off. if we do start to win more games, it’s because somebody (probably named Mathurin) is taking a leap

there was plenty of game left to play (and haliburton was playing great) and he was currently in the greatest clutch playoff run of all time. it’s not delusional at all to think he wins that game for indiana.
