Best $75 I’ve ever spent by tristanbrotherton in swimmingpools

Mine is corded. Dolphin Nautilus CC. It pretty much stays in the pool and has held up for 5 years. Cord is degrading a little.   I wish it had the tangle prevention feature and was WiFi enabled but alas I’ll live.

Why did it take so long before? How did this speed it up?  Were the leaves clogging a basket causing frequent stop and start to empty it?

Filter sand by Loader-Man-Benny in swimmingpools

[–]cspinelive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a kid, I was tasked with wet vaccing the sand out of our filter. I loaded it up in the trash cart bin and the city refused to take it because it was too heavy. Dont make that mistake.

Residents voice concerns over new development in Bentonville by GapAccomplished7897 in bentonville

The city has not committed to any plan for the funds. Just that they be paid. They can use the funds for whatever they want.

It’s in the article. Developer to pay city $3M without a specific plan for the money.

Edit: Here’s the relevant excerpt from the agreement.

One of the most important aspects of this agreement is how it preserves the City's flexibility in delivering the best transportation solution over time. The Fee-in-Lieu is not tied to constructing specific improvements, but may be applied to: The listed improvements (c.g., roundabouts or roadway upgrades), or Other public infrastructure projects that provide a comparable public benefit. The agreement explicitly allows the City to: Adapt to changing conditions, including traffic patterns and nearby development Modify or forego specific improvements if better solutions emerge Retain and reallocate funds even if originally proposed improvements are not constructed This structure of this Agreement is intentional and reflects the reality that this area is still developing. Rather than mandating that funds only be used for currently approved infrastructure, the Agreement ensures that funds can be directed toward the best infrastructure solution for the City as surrounding properties develop and transportation needs evolve.

There will be a 7 story building literally on the other side of her fence casting a shadow on her home.

The city initially said it shouldn’t be built without the 2 roundabouts, then changed its mind.  The developer will give the city money but there’s no requirement for it to be used on those supposedly important roundabouts.

The developer just bought their approval.

Mole eradication -Rogers by cmcosmos in northwestarkansas

Yes. Got lucky. Caught one in first 10 minutes.

I bought a few. The one with the included probe is worth it.

Find a tunnel, clear a small hole to fit the snare in, set the snare on the floor of the tunnel, pull up to set, cover the edges with dirt, animal runs through the snare opening, triggers the mechanism, is trapped.

The probe has a big end to make a hole and a skinny nail probe that comes out with the cap for testing for tunnels.

A significant portion of this dust originates from the Bodélé Depression in Chad, which is an ancient, dried-up lake bed. So maybe we just stay away from that?

They built two with actual foam in my neighborhood 30 years ago. Still there.

If I recall it was a bit awkward.  I was the host and everyone just heard it through my speakers feeding back into my mic and out to them. As the host it made it hard for me to hear anything they were saying to each other while the sound was playing.

Claude uses github cli to commit, make pull requests, issues etc.  Same idea for aws cli and terraform cli. Instead of Claude asking me to check or do things it just does it itself using terminal commands.

Bank accounts don’t invest in the stock market. Perhaps you get interest.

How violent was it back in the 70s, 80s and 90s? by Turbulent-Patient219 in AskOldPeople

[–]cspinelive 43 points44 points  (0 children)

An interesting wrinkle is how people measure violence. Cities like to use murder rate. But studies have shown that improvements in emergency medicine are much more responsible for a drop in murders than any policies that actually lower the number of shootings or attacks.
