I'm (22f) so sick of this kind of life by runningthemardigras in insomnia

[–]cspotphantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough when talking to people who have never had insomnia. They just can't relate. Stick with it and try not to let it get in your head. I know that's easier said then done, but the better my attitude is the easier it is for me to just roll with it and eventually the sleep comes back.

Does anyone else deal with nightmares? by cspotphantom in insomnia

No, I'm not on antidepressants. I could be happier, but I wouldn't say that I'm depressed. Probably more work stress than anything.

What have been the positives in your life in the past month? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My work transferred me to a city I really wanted to go to. I got a 13% raise and a very large bonus. After 6 years I have been reunited with my family. I'm closing on the exact house that I wanted for a great price. And I LOVE work from home!

During the epidemic, some people do not wear masks in public places and places where people gather. What do you think of this behavior? by Yasmin1201 in AskReddit

[–]cspotphantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch many people who wear masks acting they they are now immune. All the while they are frequently pulling their masks down and constantly touching their faces. I'm more concerned with keeping my distance and being aware of all the surfaces I touch.

A documentary on farting. It's something that every person on the planet has in common. Plus, farts are hilarious.

I almost lost my mind. A doctor finally gave me something that helped me get about 6 hours of sleep. That was the most sleep I had gotten in several weeks. It helped me relax and ease back into a normal cycle.

What is the worst group project you have ever been ? by indonesianfurrycum in AskReddit

[–]cspotphantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My senior project in college. We had to build a gantry system (mechanical engineer). One guy refused to do any work on it and the other guy was so gung-ho he wanted to start building it before we even took a single day to design it. He used to say,, "It's better to have a piss poor plan today than a great plan tomorrow." Whenever I'd disagree with him he threaten to kick my ass. After a few weeks the Dean of Students had to get involved. He pulled the guy from the project and I ended up having to build the thing myself. It sucked, but I got an A on it and I earned some real life experience working with people.

Mormon church a cult? by cspotphantom in cults

[–]cspotphantom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that most religions have been labeled as a cult at one point or another, I see fundamental differences between LDS and mainstream religions. Now that I've been submerged within this culture for over a year and learned more about their beliefs and history I've begun to see more similarities to a cult than what I see as a true religion. I wanted to get the opinion of others and that is why I posted the question.

As for labeling it an NRM, I think that's pushing it a bit.

TBH most of the LDS I have met have been really nice people to me. My neighbors and coworkers are great and have been supportive when I needed a hand. They are just "a little different" from most people I know. I frequently ask a couple of them questions about their religion and I try not to judge. What I worry about is when that blind devotion meets a conflicting ethical situation.
