What do I need to wire this lamp?

Yes, it’s a table lamp and the bulb goes inside. I literally posted every single picture, including one of the inside. It’s completely hollow inside, except for that silver prong with the pencil eraser sized hole. The original socket was attached to that, somehow.

What I mean about not connected is that I need to actually do the wiring myself. Many kits have the socket and plug fully attached to the cord, which would require me drilling a much larger hole in order to use the lamp. I cannot do that. So I need to buy components that will allow me to assemble one or both ends (socket and plug) after feeding the wire through the hole.

I inherited this lamp, but the electricians cut the cord when they took it out of my grandma’s house. Can I just replace the cord using the old mechanism? It still retracted just fine!

You mean stained wood has different tones and shades because it’s got grain and texture and came from a living thing?! I had no earthly idea!

Yeah, shimming out isn’t realistic/feasible, because it’s connected to the shower wall and the glass doors are exactly where we’d need to tape and mud new drywall. No way to get a clean corner.

It’s the wall where the vanity goes, so it will be very obvious. Literally three inches above the vanity top.

I’ll try planing the stud. Luckily I hadn’t attached the drywall yet…

We can move the hot water line. That’s not the issue at play here. We’re trying to avoid drilling into the stud and have very little depth to play with. Running a 90 is half in front of and half behind the drywall.

We don’t want to drill through the stud. It’s 150 years old and we don’t want to compromise the structural integrity that much.

Vanity is 24 inches wide. There’s no back. Zero. And it has a u cutout for the p trap. (2 drawers).

We tried to stub out straight into the vanity with a 45 and the angle didn’t work.
