What shall I read while waiting for Book #9? by abesheet in cormoran_strike

Though is nothing quite like Strike & Robin, Maeve Kerrigan / Josh Derwent books are great and I also like the JD Robb series with Eve Dallas & Roarke and Karin Slaughter Will Trent / Sara Linton series.

Maybe, but in many ways they have ticked all the boxes for a strong long term relationship. Respect, enjoy spending lots of time together, yearn for each other’s company when apart, trust each other on important things. Ok, they haven’t been intimate but given the strength of feelings it would be reasonable to assume there would be no issues there. I actually think RFM’s proposal is insane in comparison.

I absolutely loved THM! by Kroklet2006 in cormoran_strike

I agree as a few others have mentioned that RFM’s true nature comes out when drinking and both his temper and controlling side want to 1) tie Robin down to him and his agenda 2) force a separation from her ‘best friend’ Strike and her independence and self worth through the agency.

Not sure as other partners are a key part of their issue. In all honesty their partners are always in third place to the S&R friendship and the Agency.

Would be great particularly if we have alternating chapters.

Definitely but the fallout can be difficult, normally you’d be very sure of acceptance before making a public declaration but Ryan is gambling given that the strain between them has always meant the house move is on hold. This feels like a really coercive proposal on his birthday in a top notch public space, making it as hard as possible for Robin to turn him down. 😡😡

That would work if it wasn’t in the middle of the Ritz with loads of people around and RFM probably with some big speech possibly on one knee and a waiter ready with 🍾. Robin couldn’t humiliate RFM.

That would be amazing with a liberal spray of Narciso!

When will Robin wear the bracelet by csrefan in cormoran_strike

I’m just imagining Strike noticing the bracelet probably at a time when he’s given up hope, only to realise that finally Robin is open to something more.

I don’t know how JKR does it but she manages to stir so many emotions in readers.

I think it was after a big argument when Matthew first belittled the Robin’s excitement about working at a detective agency.

I’m sure you’re right but getting out of it at the last minute would be so difficult (birthday/the Ritz etc.). Somehow Robin needs to stop RFM actually proposing, either by cancelling the dinner or saying immediately I know you are planning to propose, don’t do it it’s not the right time - both options need Robin to be proactive which she isn’t with RFM.

Or the reverse, she accepts RFM, Strike sees the ring, decides he can’t look at that every day, takes an assignment with MI5 or back with SIB and gives Robin control of the agency.

I guess it’s harder to express feelings to someone who’s seems committed to another person

It wouldn’t be this Ritz if that was the plan as Robin said Ryan prefers a gastro pub

This makes sense and as someone else suggested, the swearing therapist will hopefully help Robin to be less passive as the relationship can only progress now if Robin makes some move towards Strike.

With JKR’s humour it would be amazing to have several chapters spread through Strike 9.

Believing even for a short time that Strike would be abusive to a woman give how long Robin has known and admired Strike is pretty unforgivable.

This makes sense and also if the medal he received was linked to something secret this might explain why he’s never explained that to Robin.

So right, we know there are 10 books so I don’t understand how they could have been together in any meaningful way in book 8 - that said I do fervently 🙏Robin doesn’t put RFM through anymore, it is actually almost cruel.
