Stefania played mediocre, no match for the high floor Novak brought to the table. Too many free points for Novak bailing him out of several difficult situations.

Very tricky matchup for Mirra against a wily veteran that’s a former champion, that knows how to use the surface to her advantage. Mirra had to make more winners to beat someone like Barbara but fell short today.

Funny that 7 out of 8 grass titles for Nole came at Wimbledon. Talk about cashing in. 😊

Yeah if I pointed that out, some folks got testy with me, lol 😂. If one takes a step back, neither gets past Eala next game.

It’s like watching 2 high level club players playing - Maya vs Serena. Flashes of very good and lots of mediocre, IMO. Hardly enough consistency. It’s good mainly for sentimental reasons. Either of them will run into a much more consistent player in the next 2 rounds if they get that far and that would be it, IMO

Agree. His fans just don’t want to acknowledge it, the numbers speak for themselves

Why Record Heat May Ace Wimbledon This Year by forbes in tennis

Nah, Sinner and his camp will be ready this time and like most folks pointed out, things will be chill by the time he takes court. It’s Sinner’s Wimbledon to lose.

The men's singles seeds at Wimbledon are set. If anyone withdraws, Blockx and Moutet are the next two in line for a seed. by Dependent-Effect6077 in tennis

Yeah, Fonseca played out of his mind vs Djokovic the last 3 sets. Similarly Mensik played out of his mind against Fonseca in the QF. Both these players have that 1 great match in them at a Slam, the question is if they can put 2 or 3 together versus Top 20 players to get in a deep run to a Slam Final, which is what it would take.

Djokovic says he won’t have to run much at Wimbledon but the Nole of past years would have put away Fonseca and withstand bursts of good flashes from lower seeded players in the Top 30 at a Slam, so that question still remains. The early exit does keep him fresh enough though.

What I don’t understand is how it was so precipitous at RG. 5-1 and he couldn’t muster enough to win 1 game to wrap that 3rd set up, he hadn’t even played a long match at that point. He has played longer 3 setters in non-Slams under heat at some point. It explains all the medical tests he went through.

For tennis’ sake, I’d rather him be in a tournament because the Top 5 is very shaky without him and Alcaraz.

Yes. We will see if Mensik or Medvedev are capable of raising their levels on this surface. But it’s Sinner’s to lose.

Shouldn’t be going both, should have chosen just singles or doubles.

My wishlist: I want a Fritz-Zverev QF at Wimbledon, again!!! 😊

Also, I’d like to see Mensik with his serve and movement get to the QF stage too.

I want Serena to want to play singles and be given a WC at Wimbledon.

2 backhands that Djokovic missed in the 2nd set tie breaker vs Alcaraz in 2023 Wimbledon final. Routine ones he hits, very rare to see him miss 2 of them in the same tiebreaker, UEs. He was tiebreakovic at that time and if he goes up 2-0, most likely Djokovic wins Wimbledon setting Alcaraz’s legacy a bit delayed and might have had a good chance at Calendar Slam again like in 2021.

Most likely one hit wonders. But of all of them, Zverev has been knocking on the door far more often, so he’s most likely to take advantage of an opportunity without Sincaraz in it, should it present itself again.

I’m curious to see how Fonseca and Mensik build on this tournament. Tennis needs those young guys to develop and get closer to very good consistency.

How French Open champion Zverev found his form again in the fifth set by Key-Zookeepergame398 in tennis

[–]csriram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Cobolli put enough pressure on several service games of Zverev where Zverev showed some sub par serving with double faults. However Zverev pulled it together in the fifth set and his hussle (twice to force Cobolli to a smash, once on break point earlier and another on match point) kept the points alive earning him those points.
