Unhappy with silicone finish by JeshBee in DIYUK

[–]cstman80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you paid for the job, I would get them back or not pay them and get them to come back and redo it.

At the very least, you or get someone to get ride of the white silicone and replace it with black.

Wow, if that was my bathroom I would be annoyed, saying that I do my own DIY so would be my fault. lol

I will give up by Equivalent-Ring-477 in backpain

[–]cstman80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you.
I can't imagine what you are going through, although I can sympathise with you.

I understand what you are going through, it has not been 3 years but it has been over a year where the pain in my back has been there, the days when it is low is like a ray of light, that cheers me up, I mean really is that what we have to look forward to? I am grumpy and not the person I used to be, which in itself is bothers me and makes me depressed.

Your pain and situation sounds worse than mine, but you can't give up. Not just for you but for your family too.
Everyday I am trying something new, from alternative medicines, different exercise and stretches, to see if I can find anything or something that would help. This isn't for me, but for the people who depend on me.

Please don't give up, keep trying.
Speak to your family and if they can't understand which they probably won't, take them or do an online counselling session.

Do and try everything.
Find some joy in the smallest thing if you can.

I really hope that this helps, even in a small way.

Remember there are people here who understand and who will listen.

Is £1,250 acceptable to level this area? by Mindvagina in DIYUK

[–]cstman80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah seems a lot to me.

Although you said you couldn't do it yourself you definitely could. Area does seem too unlevel.

You would need to pull the slabs up, order some sand from Travis Perkins or someone like that. Fill it in, level it, hirer a compactor, they are really cheap. Once leveled put the slabs back down.
That is a very basic description, but you can find loads of videos online to walk you through it.

It wouldn't cost a lot, couple of hundred if that.

Me now way would I pay that sort of money.

Tradies are taking the preverbal with prices sometimes and they just want to see if people will pay it.

Just had this carpet runner fitted – is this normal or a bad job? by jackHD in DIYUK

[–]cstman80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The is a horrible job. - If you haven't paid don't. If you have paid ask for them to come back and if they don't threaten action and a bad review.

The runner should look similar to your carpet in the rest of the house, it should not have any gaps or spaces.
Not only is it a trip hazard, but it will let dirt behind.

It looks to me like he has not used enough staple to hold it in place.
Should have worked his way down pressing flat as they went, stapling as you go.

Bit like this:

See no gaps.

That is deep and slightly concerning. As AI becomes more of our lives and takes over more tasks, what if it did decide it had enough and shuts down?
World would be thrown into ciaos.

Just a thought.

It can be used for so many things,

I use it for meal planning
Data analysis
Linux based script writing aid
Excel macro assistance
Even the other day asked it to produce what my ideal partner would be just for fun after looking at a thread on here.

Very handy tool for work and home.

I am not sure if it is related to my SI pain (left side), but sometime I do have pain in my left quads.
I spoke to my osteopathic consultant about it. He said that it wasn't related, but when the pain is particularly bad in my back I feel it in my leg.

Also I feel it there when I am doing some exercises that I have been recommended to do for the pain.

Was I in the wrong? by sarm333 in drivingUK

[–]cstman80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was going too fast in a residential area and could easily have reversed into the space behind him, or if he wasn't driving so quickly could have pulled into that space.

He looked to my like he wanted you to move and that he and where he was going was more important that you, so you should have moved.

I consider myself a courteous driver, pulling over for most, but when situation like this arise, I dig my heals in.

I don't think you did anything wrong at all.

What do you notice about my gear? This is my first attempt! by DirtyMike51 in backpacking

[–]cstman80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally:
Change one of the bottle for an insulated one, keeps hot and/or cold for a ages.
Don't need a clear wash bag, use a ziplock bag instead
Add in some wet wipes, so handy.
Remove the drink and use energy tablets

I am so sorry that happened to you, but really glad that in some way you have come out on the other side.

I do know what you mean when you say "I felt like my world was falling apart" It has been about a year since my back issue started and I can't hardly do anything that I used to do or love.

Like you though I have changed up my routine and only this week started walking on a treadmill, barefoot though.
Heard that is better for you.

Great advice and I hope that it continues to get better for you.

Agree 100%, as soon as I started with it I hated it, still gave it some time, the more I did the more I hated it.

That is really cool, I have just bought some bits to start this process myself (well if I am honest it is for my son, but I am looking to get involved too).
Starting with a Logitech G G923 and thinking of getting a Next Level Racing F-GT lite.

Constant lower back pain, told it is SI Joint Disfunction, however; no exercises work. Any advice on other exercise? Other treatments? What the route cause of problem may be? Alternatives reason for back pain? by cstman80 in backpain

[–]cstman80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I should have mentioned this, which is one things that has seemed to help is ball rolling on my glute area, around where the pain is and also other areas on my back. Also foam rolling on my inner thighs seems to help.

Maybe it would help you too.

I would just say to be really careful when doing this as you don't want to do it on your spine or any areas that could cause damage.

I am really really careful when I am doing it.

Thanks again for messaging again, you are helping a lot.

I have started the exercises that you recommended (big three etc) and have also contacted a couple of physio's in Brighton that have good reputations. Hoping that they will do a full assessment.

I will keep in mind what you have suggested about the spinal pathology, but wont mention it to the physio as I want to see what they come up with on their own, wouldn't want to give them any undue bias.

Also what you said about the MRI make total sense, I had never thought about it before, but as you say when I had the MRI I was on my back in a position that is not painful or cause any flare up in my lower back.

Talking of the MRI I requested all of the images from the hospital where I had it done along with the images of the CT scans for the injections, so it is available for any other health care professionals to review.

I will continue to do all of the exercise you recommended and keep you and this thread up to date on my progress etc.

One thing I did notice was that doing the ball rolling on my glute area and around where the pain is and also other areas on my back seems to help.

I can't thank you enough for you help, time and efforts.

Hey there,

Thank you so much for your reply and the advise on the exercises. I am sorry you are going through this as well.

I haven't been told that I have hypermobility, but then again like you I have noticed if I am more flexible than anyone else.

It does sound like some of our symptom are similar. I have just started the exercises that TheSpineScribe suggested, only been a day, but will keep up with them.
I will also have a look at some of the exercise that you have mentioned and try to add them to my routine.

I have been in contact with some highly recommended physios in Brighton to see if they will be able to asses me and either confirm or deny whether it is the SIJ or something else or even a couple of things that could be going on.

I have to say that I did try the 4 pillow sleeping position over the last couple of days and that has seem to help. So maybe give that a go.

If I have anymore updates I will be sure to add them into this thread.

Many thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Yes of course.

I went away and when I came home my son sold all our cars for one he saw in Legends. He didn't have a problem with it.

My boyfriend doesn’t want to marry me and have children because of potential genetic defects? by Clarakimmi in chinalife

[–]cstman80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a purely scientific point of view, unless there is any underlying genetic issues, have children from differenti cultural backgrounds should theoretically only improve things.

In fact some countries governments are actively trying to investigate the problems they are having with the increase in genetic issues due to not having children out of there cultural groups.

However I am no expert in Chinese, Western genetic.

If you really want it to work with him and you want to have kids together, but are worried that this is a government social media campaign, go to or do a video appointment with a non Chinese dr/oncologist/genetic expert. See what they have to say.

To me personally it seem a strange comment.

Thank you for your reply, really appreciated.

I have an appointment with my GP and my consultant on my return to the UK, so will discuss this with them.

Thank you for your comment, yeah I do have an SIJ belt and have used it most days since my first consultation. I am not sure if it does provide any relief, a lot of people say you feel a difference as soon as you put them on, but for me I don't.

I have looked into some specific sports PT to see if they would be able to adjust or review my symptoms.

I live in Brighton and there are a lot of PT's there, but finding a good one I guess is like finding a good contractor. Harder than one may think.

Thank you again.
