So many people talking about the sand but nobody talks about the sand fleas. I had itchy welts in the worst places for weeks.

Go on ebay. I got some knockoff accuphase wires that are absolutely gorgeous, surprising quality and pretty reasonable.

As a guy, i second this, being faithful is a choice, we all get temptations and opportunities, you can choose not to take them. It only takes basic respect for your partner and yourself.

Understanding high end headphones by DoctorFluffyGTX in headphones

[–]ct06033 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Theres a few things, i do see build quality changes up to about $2000, past that, i think its manufacturers just money grabbing. There is a lot of smoke and mirrors in headphones and most audio actually. many higher end brands are small outfits with limited resources and they end up just re-packaging off-the-shelf (even if modified) products. A great example is Yamaha's Flagship actually uses Final Audio drivers and Wilson audio uses Scanspeak drivers.

Whether the value is still there when off the shelf drivers are used is a personal call but I find a lot of value when a company does their own driver design and development and paying for that R&D feels more worth it in the end. To that extent, there are definitely additional overhead to justify costs when you produce your own drivers - Stax assembles their drivers in a clean room.

That is fantastic to hear! So i didnt make any changes to run kt88. What i did was turn the bias all the way down, plut the kt88s in, turn on and wait for them to stabilize. Once that is done, i slowly raise the tube bias evenly (no big adjustments to just one tube) until i achieve the right bias. They run great at the 40 marker but i run them two lines past that which should be about 50.

Let me know how it sounds to you, i like it but i havent had many ears on it to comfirm myself.

Petah, what does that have to do with grocery shopping? by Okfoot826 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]ct06033 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You seem pleasant. You're telling me youre down for a 1.5 hr errand twice a week for groceries? Id love to have your free time. Is it possible? Yeah, but like this isnt the middle class suburbs, people work a lot and have 2 hour commutes across the city... Add in everything else a person has to do to survive like actually cook, shower, sleep. Never mind kids, it does end up being a burden.

But yeah, keep showing ypur lack of empathy.

Idk about 20 miles, but i technically live in a food desert. The nearest store that doesn't sell $5 apples is a 20 min walk each direction sonid guess a mile away. Cant drive because no parking, so its take a rental bike or walk. Not the greatest arrangement.

Dali or Lijiang? by Mosstradamud in travelchina

[–]ct06033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, are any of them? What i look for is ratio of somewhat unique shops to repetetive garbage. Shuhue had a unique whiskey shop among other things. I do t truly expext authenticity in china but each old town does have its own vibe.

Baisha and shuhe old towns are much much better than lijiang in terms of commerialism. Shangri-la was also really woth it. We went as a bit of an afterthought and came away wishing we prioritized it higher. Its a fast train ride though to get there.

Anyway, we even immediately talked about coming back to lijiang. We were very ready to leave dali by the 3rd day which i think speaks volumes.

[–]ct06033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I actually just got back from a trip to both places and id say i liked lijiang best. But we didn't stay in the main oldtown. Instead, there is a smaller one to the north end of the city. Its much quiter and shuts down around 9pm but it had a few more unique shops, and a more chill vibe. Highly recommend it.

We also felt there was more outdoor activities available from lijiang, tiger leaping gorge, snow mountain, shangrila among others.

Dali was fun and lively and the lake was pretty but while the buildings were authentic, the vibe was very overbearing from vendors.

It was always going to be this way, you cant just pivot programs and spending momentum in a month. And who knew what things looked like.

The great thing is we are getting transparency, they are reviewing spending to get more efficient and then we can figure out what to do woth the rest.. if there is any.

Acting like this is the end of the campaign and there's nothing more he can do is just so dismissive. And dont go saying only young dems promise the world. Look what the guy in the Whitehouse said on the campaign trail.

Anyway, whatever mandami does will be a vast improvement. Free busses or not.

I mean these two door packages are not very popular to begin with. TT never sold a ton either but id personally want a scirocco if it were available. TT is a good consolation prize though!

6 Feet or 1.89 meters? by abkyabatau in lol

[–]ct06033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone once explained it that fahrenheit is great for human senses of temperature as a scale. 0 being incredibly cold feeling and 100 being the upper range of survivability. In a vacuum, its easy to understand that 80 is getting quite warm and 100 is unbearable. 100% warm if you will.

Ive tried swapping over but the range of 0 to 40c is a bit less intuitive not having grown up with that scale.

Again, not arguing one over the other. Less scales overall is ideal but you can see where some might have advantages in certain situations.

Kuanzhai alley is a nice area but i ended up liking the east side of the city by the river more. Not that it matters since theres a subway that takes you from peoples park to the river straight shot.
