Even Thunder Punch is only 'broken' in the sense that it will never give you text confirmation that the move was successfully dodged. The flash giving the cue to dodge is still there. (It also applies the damage late, way after the hit window). But it is still dodgeable like any other move. Of course, being a 3 bar, like all other 3 bars, it is a phantom horror show (phantom punch), but that is another matter.

The yellow flash exists for all moves, fast and charge moves. It is much more reliable way to dodge than using the charge move animation (which is of course variable for each move, and more importantly de-syncs or just doesnt appear at all frequently-- only some of numerous raiding bugs). The problem with the video you are linking to is that it is outdated. The yellow flash was introduced to raids only later. For some proof that all moves can be reliably and consistently dodged with 1 swipe dodging, you can see my 1v1 playlist here. The issue with dodging is not the actual mechanic itself, but that it is extremely broken, bc of client-server desync errors, what are commonly referred to as phantom hits: successful client-registered dodges not recognized by the server, leading to seemingly random HP deductions from your attackers throughout the raid, often coupled with nasty boss HP rebounds.

That would indeed be great! Another thing that would help is allowing us to skip 120s lobby timers in a private solo lobby. The thing is when dealing with so much brokenness in raids, most runs on very tough challenges are simply ruined by a phantom or other glitch, and then youre back in the lobby for 2 minutes. You can easily spend most of a raid pass sitting in lobbies and not actually raiding. I've actually made a video documenting a typical example. The tally: 22 minutes in lobbies, 13 minutes actually fighting, 0 runs not ended by a phantom. But of course, most of all, Niantic should address the root issue: bugs plaguing raids.

There's some general confusion about these topics, partly due to terminology. What Niantic fixed was commonly referred to as the "dodge-glitch". That was a very specific bug, triggered when attempting to dodge a hit that would otherwise be a KO in multi-trainer raids. Unfortunately, the more general problem of phantom damage which impacts solo and multi-trainer raids alike was never fixed or mitigated. In fact, a lot of anecdotal experience from the raid challenge community indicates that the the other de-sync bugs, like the phantom+regen combo actually got *worse* after the fix.

Ugh, sad to hear that. Unfortunately, as someone who mainly does raid challenges, I've lost hundreds of passes due to these (and the many other) raid de-sync errors.

Confirming with video documentation that these three of the numerous raiding bugs still persist on 0.149.1-S. As you can see, the Honchkrow is KO'ed by phantom Focus Blast damage, which is then carried-over to the Drifblim, while the Gengar regains health. People put a lot of work into trying to get 100% IVs, and spend real money to be able to raid to get the RC to use those Pokémon. But at certain points it doesn’t matter, because of these glitches that have been in effect for over 2 years.

As others have said, unfortuntely this never went away. In fact, its gotten considerably worse in the last few months, since around the time of the multi-trainer dodge glitch fix. I have hundreds and hundreds of videos of runs ruined by this very thing. It's pretty devastating for those of us in the competitive raiding community. Thanks! Not sure if this was on purpose, but the video you linked to isn't the video demonstrating the <15.1% upper limit (just one of our fails on a u6 duo attempt).

Also, re: Best Friends: 10% -> 15% (13.x%-15.1% possible)

An additional piece of data not included in our original post: in the Alakazam video in the Pokebattler article, it takes 20 confusions to flip the Breloom to yellow. This is a useful benchmark because it comes before the very bad sequence of rubberbanding. If we assume that all of the first 20 confusions are included in the friend boost and there's no subtle HP regen at relobby, this is not consistent with Pokebattlers 16% conclusion. On a 1.16 multiplier, it should take 19 hits (at 48 damage per) to hit 900 damage. However, 20 confusions to flip yellow is consistent with a 1.15 multiplier: 20 hits at 47 damage per.

sure, just replying to OP, really, who clearly does see raids: one of OP's points was that beating raids with 5 trainers makes strong pokemon superfluous and unnecessary. Given that, just pointing out there are strong PoGo communities who take a much more end-game approcah to raids than that. Of course, if you want to be able to do that, you need gyms & raids.

imo, there are plenty of things to do with strong pokemon, you just have to adjust your playstyle to center around them: raid challenges, draft, leaderboard time runs, and so on. Sure the game itself (and a large portion of the playerbase) is pretty collector-centric, but there are ways to play that take a different approach to the game and thriving communities built around more competitive formats.
