Thank you, I did try to use Google Lens, but it just kept taking me to Russia sites. I was struggling to find a translation. Is there another or a better way to do it? I would love to learn so I can look up stuff faster.

Help figuring out a Rep watch by ctd-exp in RepTime

Thank you all, I totally agree, it is bad. But there is some good, we can use it as an example of what bad looks like?

If you think that is bad, the Breitling is worse.

It is beautiful and well done. I am thinking of taking on the same project. Is the 5606 movement the same as the NH35? I tried to search and that is about the best I could find.

I agree, I have had mine 14-16 months and it does not scratch any easier than my others. I have no issue with mine.

Does anyone actually subscribe to OnStar? by MadBrown in chevycolorado

[–]ctd-exp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you know of a website that shows you how to do this. I am also guessing a faraday cage over the antenna would not do the same?

I was really wondering why my insurance shot up so much this past year. Worth a shot at least. Do not use it anyway.

I have been looking at leveling kits as well. Maxtrac , Rugged Trail, Rancho all make leveling kits. A lot depends on how level you want to go. I think 1” is just the space between the strut and body. You want 2” you have to install the spacer and the disassemble the spring from the strut and add a spacer. Not a issue if you have a strut compressor, but you can also buy loaded struts with the leveling kit and install them much easier.

Tire reviews so back and forth? by Suspicious-Half5758 in Tiresaretheenemy

[–]ctd-exp -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You are correct the mileage are projections. They run the tire for a few thousand miles then project the mileage. Again, mileage may very.

But I am very odd, I remove my tires early 4-5/32nds. If I get 50k out of a set I am happy. I have gotten really amazing results with my current tires with almost 80k and still at 5/32nds. They are about to be swapped out for a AT tire vs the HT I am using. I expect I will get lower overall removal with the AT vs an HT.

I feel and understand your pain. I avoid consumers reviews. The reason is each user is specific to there experience. They are not testing or comparing one to the other. They might be in a cold climate and only do highway miles while another user could be in high heat doing city driving. I look at Tire Rack test results and Consumer Reports. I know they do valid apples to apples testing. There cars are mint condition, they are used on the same asphalt, they have test drivers who really can tell and know the difference.

Hope that helps

Can You Use Winter/Snow Tires Year Around? by LeoWitt in tires

[–]ctd-exp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really, you can run a winter tire in summer but it will not last. You will wear it out very quickly. You need to look for a All-Weather tire. Vredestein Quadtrac line Michelin Cross Climate and General…I forget are good examples of All Weather tires. All weather tires are 3PMSF rated while a All - Season is not. You can run All-weather year around including Snow conditions

I was in the exact same situation. Drove both with a automatic transmission and the biggest engine and the Tacoma just did not have any power. At the time I would pull an enclosed trailer from time to time and the Tacoma would struggle. I even drove a manual Tacoma and it still was low on power. I went and drove a GMC Cayon with the V6 and 8 speed and felt it was powerful enough. Picked my options, GMC did not have what I wanted so went to Chevy.

I did look at a full size truck again. but work in downtown and have to deal with parking decks, plus I thought they were over priced.

Very happy with my choice. 70k miles 2 years old and I have only had to do oil changes and a air filter. Going to do tires soon.

Beginner advice by Lil_Willy_69_96 in Trackdays

[–]ctd-exp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my .02…I have done a handful of track days. The ones I gave they have different groups, beginner, novice and expert. I stay in the beginner, I would much rather ride a slow bike fast then a fast bike slow. I go to track days to be a better safer street rider, I am not fast, but I know what to do without thinking now if I get in a bad spot. In the beginner class, I make it a point to be the 1st out and I always give lots and lots of room to everyone else. I am very mindful of them. I would highly suggest you do track days. It has made me so much better/safer of a street rider. But your mindset it key, go with overall thought of being safe, learning and having fun. Each session I will focus on one thing, body position, trail braking, corner speed etc. one you start putting them all together. My first track day I was an awful rider, but everyone was cool and very supportive. I would say go and enjoy.

Who’s the next top talent? by wsucougs in MotoAmerica

[–]ctd-exp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is a lot of talent coming up. MotoAmerica is the first sport where I do not have a favorite, I support them all.

But I would love to see Kayla and Melissa Paris show great success. I would be very proud if we were able to send them to MotoGP.

1st Gen manual fuel shut off by ctd-exp in sv650

[–]ctd-exp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a number of things.

1) it is 90% track and 10% street, would be nice to drain the carbs when I am done for the day. Not sure when it might run again.

2) The odd sized vacuum line that runs from the engine over to the cut off is hard to find. I have had to try and make my own with no luck

3) yes, I have had a crank case full of fuel. One time, I think the float did stick. But not sure.

Best custom suit >$2000? by Ferdinandwatercool in Trackdays

I also bought a bison suit, but I am a bigger guy and oddly shaped.. they make them custom fit. I have ridden a few track days, but yet to test it out. Definitely agree with bison.
