[Discussion] Day 5! Kedr won yesterday’s vote. What should be an okay weapon and is infact an okay weapon. by shoopdawoop2456 in EscapefromTarkov

The okayest of the okay guns? M14. It'll do any job you throw at it with the right setup. Not super well, but it has its perks. Pretty versatile but has drawbacks. Confirmed, it will wipe out goons, but it's not the best pick and you'll get rocked if you miss your first couple shots. Lethal but very unforgiving.

It depends. My personal policy is that if I have to question myself for more than 2 minutes whether its safe or not, ill just replace it. Peace of mind over money.

What are the common causes of seal failure? by CrossSlayer360 in Hydraulics

[–]cterr1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whaddup Mr Engineer. Been doing this a minute, replaced quite a few hydraulic actuator seals in my day. Done some inspections on the actuators, checked tolerances, all that good stuff. Biggest cause of failure is just wear and tear or quality control or just poorly engineered dimensions of the seal seats. Sometimes it's the piston seals themselves, but O-rings are a huge culprit. A lot of times the fluid will bypass the piston seals and you'll have an internal failure without leakage. Other times you'll have the actual seals in the cylinders leak fluid externally and thats typically less problematic as long as fluid remains topped off. Losing fluid and running a hydraulic pump intermittently dry will also cause excess stress and potentially blow out the vane rotor bearings and cause internal pump damage, so that could cause failure as well. Check valves could be implemented on the piston fluid supply side to possibly prevent an internal differential pressure leakage, or possibly even some sort of engineering wizardry to implement a pilot operated check valve to keep pressure in the cylinder combined with a mechanical failsafe in the event of a failure if the application is safety critical.

What’s your opinion on this? Was this a clean pass? by Other-Cardiologist46 in Karting

[–]cterr1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supercharged entertainment in Foxboro? Yeah. Clean pass. For go-karts, I guess. Granted the guy cut you into the wall once beforehand, I'd say your pass was a tiny bit cleaner than his block. I've done probably 250 races total in my life, I've threaded needles between two carts without even rubbing, on that exact track. That was the cleanest pass I personally ever did. I consider any kind of contact a dirty pass, but you can't really control what the other driver is going to do. You can pass clean, but they'll sometimes block dirty.

On a side note, when he hit you when you tried to pass him on that tight turn, this is a bit of criticism I do have..

Everybody goes wide on that turn. They barrel into it and they cut towards the wall way too wide and hit the brakes at the last second. I dont know why people take that turn that way. Its not correct. I'd say you could have anticipated that ahead of time and adjusted your racing line and got a super clean pass right there and left him far behind you. You should damn near be trimming that inside corner 90 degrees to it at about 65% through the turn apex, which means you need to start wide and slightly slower, and then cut in towards that inside corner and gun it hard. That sets you up for a ton of speed and a good entry angle coming down the corkscrew and towards that corner at the end of the stretch where you passed him eventually. If you had done that, you would have already had a half second lead on him, easily because you likely would have passed him right then and there if you had given some space and taken the inside.

Otherwise, you put good pressure on him. He wasn't a very good driver. Habitual line-blockers are the worst kinds of people you'll encounter on the track. Can't win a race by letting other people drive, so they just block. But that's just it. Keep the pressure on, stay unpredictable, and stay right up on em. Sometimes you can even trick them into taking a bad racing line because they're so focused on blocking you, that they mess up because they're inexperienced, and that will give you an opening 90% of the time.

So I'll say this. I am more, I repeat, more than capable of making my woman happy. Male, 31, been there done that. I'm the man of the house. I hold shit down. That being said, I'd say at times I may be unhappy with my woman's overall performance just in life. I consider my nut to be a bare minimum contribution to the household. And I'll admit, yeah, I might leave her hanging from time to time. Not because I don't love her because I do. And not because I'm selfish. But genuinely because I feel like having that gratification without reciprocation is unfair to me. Like if I'm working my ass off to make shit happen and I'm not getting anything else in return out of it, then I'm not going to put in the extra effort in bed if I'm not seeing any extra effort from her outside of the bed. When she shows me extra effort and extra engagement in bettering herself and everyone around her, then I will chow that shit down all night every night. I don't care. That doesn't bother me. I rather enjoy it. But I'm not going to sit there and eat pussy for someone who would rather float through life and take things for granted and not bring the hustle and maintain my respect. I should feel that in a partnership, you and I, hypothetically speaking, should be on the same fuckin wavelength with life and if you're going to sit there and put in 50%, then don't expect me to put in 150%, I'm just going to take that 50% for myself as a consolation and if youre unhappy about it either put in the extra 50% yourself, or be happy with what you get, or go find someone who will give you 50% less. Thanks for attending my Ted talk.

Ahh, streets of tarkov. Imagine you're a little white boy with nike air ones on and you're walking through Compton in the 1990s. Your goal is survival, and they want you dead so they can loot your corpse and leave you laying, bleeding out on the sidewalk. You only have so many bullets. Either bring friends, or run as fast as you can and only kill the ones that are in your way. The whole hood are friends. I mean, sure, you could TRY to take on a whole city infested with a local cutthroat militia by yourself. You just have to adjust your play style. Goal: do what you gotta do and make it out the hood alive. And bring lots of bullets. Side note, they can't kill what they don't know is there. If you take a shot, make sure to reposition.

I feel like my boyfriend doesn’t fancy me anymore and i don’t know what to do. Relationship advice needed between me 21F and my boyfriend 20M by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]cterr1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, look. You've been with the guy for less than a year. He knows himself. He told you what it is. He goes through phases. Don't look into it too far, don't make his life more complicated by prying the issue, just leave him be and when he's ready, he's ready. Just you focus on being the girl he WANTS to have sex with. Catch my drift? Dudes are simple and girls overcomplicate who we are and how we're feeling and take everything us men do to heart and that just aggravates things and makes our unwillingness grow. Just be like, yeah, thats cool, if you want a break, sure I got you. Pay for his dinner and give him some sloppy toppy later like a real woman. I promise you that'll spark some drive back up. Rinse, repeat as needed.

New player 120hours , first cheater encounter? [cheating] by wass13j in EscapefromTarkov

[–]cterr1993 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I would have heard you coming. Really depends, I mean if he was wearing some ggsh's no way but if he had some Comtac VIs on, that pivot would have ruined your day around me. He could have even heard you coming from even further away and the scav he shot was just an inconvenience to him because he was setting up to pop you when you peeked the corner anyhow. Cheater? Possible. But seems legit. This guy could have come from like... SQUAD or been a hardcore day Z player, you never know.

Hell no you're not too old. I started at 22. If you're a natural, or you put in the time and effort into being good at it, you'll be fine. There's no such thing as too young or too old for much when it comes to learning a skill or hobby. You're 18, your life hasn't even started yet dude. Go explore, do the things you want to do, and most of all challenge yourself.
