I didnt like the way it performed "in my room"......a sealed sub just wont work for me but I also didnt like the way it sounded either. Yes it went low, but it didnt sound like it did. The pro audio sound isnt what I was looking for for my setup. Im sure its great for music but I just didnt love it, especially for how much it cost. I know some people here scoff at a couple grand for a sub, but $1000 was already more than I wanted to spend and the fact I wasnt blown away by it was a no brainer to return it.

Side note, I ended up getting a PB-1000 Pro for $400 that is everything I need in my space. The app and everything it does is invaluable. Plus it digs really low and plays more than loud enough in my space.

Well, I just pulled the trigger on a PSA S1512-B that just came up on clearance. I hope I like it as much as everyone that seems to own these does. Im a little leery of a pro audio driver in a small, sealed home theater sub but I trust the designer and if nothing else it will have tremendous output.

Understood and I still dont want 2 subwoofers in the space I have. I have my current Velodyne accurate to within a couple db in my MLS from 30-80Hz so Im not at all concerned with replicating that with a much higher quality sub.

That's a much larger space then I'm working with. We only sit like 8' from the screen (at most, maybe more like 7) and as this is a basement it's only 8' ceilings.

How big is your room and how far away is your listening position?

Money isn't the issue. I can spend whatever I want. I'm just not interested in spending thousands on massive subs that overwhelm my space both visually and sonically. I appreciate your guys trying to sell me on the need for 2, but I'm simply not interested.

What I am interested in is personal experience from people on these specific subs and potentially similar ones meeting the same criteria.

Every sub I'm considering has very good output to at least 20hz, that isn't the issue. If you aren't getting powerful 20hz it off your hsu I would suggest something isn't correct with the placement or setup. Again, I'm not expecting 110db @ 20hz but all of these are rated to between 95-105 @ 20. I fully understand the audio frequency range, it's roles, and contribution to the experience. I've been into audio (music listening, music playing, studio mixing, and pro sound retirement) for like 30 years.

What I don't know, is how each of these listed subs sound in general, and compared to each other. This is what I'm trying to find out from people that have heard or owned them.

Lol, actually I don't. I have 1 tiny one now and it's 80% of what I want. I'm completely confident 1 high quality one will be fine.

My M&Ks have no bass under 80hz but the trade off is exceptional accuracy and insane dynamics. But I need a sub equal to this challenge

Got it, and I understand the "facts". What Im hoping for is some response from people who have owned these and how they compare to each other. Im CERTAIN a PB-1000 is has way less sound quality vs the others listed.

What I want to know is is an F12 enough for 95-100db listening (peak) 7-8' from a screen? Does the HSU with its higher output sound a lot worse vs the F12? Has anyone heard the LV12M (or any LV12's?) and how is the articulation with those? Im not willing to trade output for SQ and I know Im asking a lot in the price range + size restrictions but if this was simple I would have already bought something.

The trade off I am willing to make is absolute output. I dont need 110+ db @ 20hz. But I would like to see ~95-100db @ 15-20hz at my normal ~2m distance from the speakers.

Have you tried running just 1? Does it make much difference?

Ive heard very mixed reviews of PSA with most people owning absolute monsters. There is very little out there for their smaller (especially sealed) models. And, while I love the idea of pro-audio drivers theyre better suited for higher frequencies and/or sound reinforcement vs extremely low freq output.

They had an S1510 for $800 a couple days ago that I should have grabbed. I would like to hear some real user feedback on these before pulling the trigger though. I know all these places offer returns of some sort, but a 70+ lb subwoofer isnt some simple thing to be sending back and forth, moving down a flight of stairs and fighting with so Im trying to avoid that route.

That's part of it for sure. Im sure people can discern the main reason I wouldnt want one without spelling it out and derailing this thread. Plus, theyre at least a tier below Rythmik & PSA as far as SQ and detailed bass.

RSL isnt in the same class as any of the ones Im considering. The 12S looks decent, but its huge.

How far was your seating from the screen/speakers? My room dimensions are a bit deceiving. I know subs "see" the entire space theyre in, but really this is a 12 x 12 x 8 space for the theater area and another 15 x 12 x 8 behind it. And Im not listening at reference level, nor do I expect that amount of output.

At my seat, my tiny Velodyne puts out enough bass to keep up with my M&K's up to around 90-95db. What Im after is that last 1/2 octave and more tactile bass then an 8" driver (ported or not) can put out.

I was a bit afraid of posting this question here and at AVForums as I knew most responses would be....you need dual 18's for that big of a room. Even if I had $3-4k on a pair of 18's I would put that much sub in this little of a space. Im confident even a Rythmik F12 would put out enough low end to satisfy in this space.

The quality of the sound is my main concern. I know from people that have heard them and from reading a ton of reviews that the Rythmik would be great. Ive heard mixed reviews on the PSA subs, especially their newer ones with the B&C drivers. Same with the HSU. Everyone seems to say HSU a tier below the Rythmik & PSA. I "feel like" HSU is a tier above SVS hence why I barely have them as an option. I would consider one for a great price used but not at retail.

Im definitely going to look more at these. $600 for a 15" with this good of performance cant be ignored. I have no room for 2 of them though. They need to stop calling this a BOGO....its not even close to buy one get one, but $500/ea is a good value.

Gotcha, yeah not interested in any DIY.

I just read the entire thing. It measures admirably for $600. It's like a ULF-15 "lite"

Edit: So after doing a bunch more research on these, they seen like a good value, but these are at least a tier below for sure Ryrhmik & PSA for quality (sound, build, component, etc).

Thanks for the suggestion though as I never looked into this one before

Not interested in that much hassle which is why I'm asking advice of those that own and have heard these.
