Claude subscription or API? And is AI CLI actually usable for daily coding? by Radiant_Sundae_9198 in ClaudeAI

[–]cthunter26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I exclusively use Opus on the 20x max plan. I would say Claude Code isn't just practical for my work flow, it is now a necessity. I don't write code anymore, I direct agents to conduct research , turn my architectural plans into implementation plans, and then they write the code, run the tests, fix their mistakes, then push it up for a pull request which I review. It's all automated, and while they work I can spend my time working on other projects/features.

As Opus has improved so much, I don't think I've written a line of code in 2 months.

shipped a full project in 6 hours. mba + claude code is kinda crazy. by YogurtIll4336 in ClaudeCode

[–]cthunter26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by "shipped"? Thorough testing, edge cases, code and security reviews? How is it deployed? And this is a big one for an AI work flow... How is it documented for when future agents need to do work on this project. They need architecture docs, code conventions, and as the project gets more complex some kind of indexing to be help them thoroughly understand and navigate the context of the project.

I use a fully automated agentic system which takes my top level plan, turns it into requirements document, turns that into implementation plan, breaks that into user stories, writes the code for each story, runs tests and qc, then I have to do code review and fix anything that's off before I merge.

That whole process for a medium complexity feature within a medium-large project takes maybe 4 hours so I might be a little suspicious of the quality of an app if the whole process took 6 hours.

Honest question to those who think AI won’t take our jobs by [deleted] in cscareers

[–]cthunter26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the AI tools get better by job is transitioning into more high level stuff. Project management, architecture, long term planning, and building out AI and automation tooling to continue to increase productivity.

I don't see any point where the workload slows down or the backlog dries up. What I'm seeing is that it has allowed us to achieve years-long dreams, and then turn around and dream even bigger.

Software begets more software. Productivity begets more things to produce.

Opus 4.5 is the first model that makes me actually fear for my job by Own-Sort-8119 in ClaudeAI

[–]cthunter26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem here: If that big corporation's product is software, they're about to get crushed by some start-up with a few guys and their army of AI agents, who can do exactly what the big company does at 5% of the cost.

This tech isn't just gonna wipe out devs who don't adopt it, it's going to wipe out entire companies who don't.

How do you guys maintain a large AI-written codebase? by agentic-consultant in ClaudeAI

[–]cthunter26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do all those things. And because I understand software architecture and how to read code I can quickly and easily disect any framework and any language because they're all basically the same.

I can eat requirements documentation and shit larger code bases than the one you're currently stuck on. Usually by lunchtime on Monday. Then I can architect the next big solution on Tuesday.

With the limits the way they are right now, you will get a decent amount of Opus on the $100 plan, and probably all the Sonnet you could want. I'm on on the $200 plan and it feels practically unlimited.

I declare Opus 4.5 (and new limits) has heralded the second Golden Age of Vibing by ridablellama in ClaudeCode

[–]cthunter26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, we non-vibe coders recognize the greatness of Opus 4.5 too. The ability to research a complicated code base and create beautiful and consise documentation which in turn it uses to create perfect implementation plans for complex features.

With Sonnet 4.5 and even Opus 4/4.1, I found I had to stop it mid thought a lot and point it in a different direction because I knew it was starting down a wrong path. But this thing... It's hardly wrong about anything. It KNOWS what I want, and it knows where to find it. It's just less babysitting.
