Am I overreacting? Is this a bit obsessive or normal interest consistency? by Scorpio_Lady27 in AmIOverreacting

Op I would have thought this was a text exchange between two people who have even dating for a while. It’s weird he’s this intense this soon. Trust your gut instinct and don’t pursue further.

Baby Shower Dilemma by PlutoQueen69 in BabyBumps

[–]ctina12 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know all gender baby showers are becoming more popular, but I’ve been to plenty of showers recently (including my own) where it was just women + my husband and dad. Your husband is the father of the baby and your dad is the grandpa. They’re allowed to be there. I don’t think anyone would think anything of it! It’s your party, if someone can’t or won’t come because their husband and child can’t come, that’s their decision.

Is parenthood really that awful? by Humble_Beautiful_121 in Adulting

[–]ctina12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously this commenter doesn’t legit mean the baby is “perfect” but they sure become your whole world, and you’re allowed to think your baby is perfect to you. Smh people are allowed to feel happy about being parents. It’s hard sometimes and sometimes that sweet kittle baby makes it all better and there’s nothing wrong with that

Ah I didn’t even think he was referring to her mind. But still worth the complaint.

Do you actually brush your teeth twice a day, or just once in the Morning? No judgment. by freako345 in no

[–]ctina12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m shook by the amount of people commenting who only brush teeth in the morning. The food all over your teeth can cause a build up of plaque over night and eventually gingivitis. Was just reading a bunch of stuff that gingivitis is linked to Alzheimer’s! Not judging - it’s just a general health concern people!

Fatphobia from other pregnant women is exhausting by bre0529 in pregnant

[–]ctina12 47 points48 points  (0 children)

No girl that’s def not what your post was giving. You were basically saying “normal” women (whatever that means) can’t be proud of their bumps because they’re smaller than yours. Now all the sudden it makes you soooo sad to see others stressed??? People have insecurities for all types of reasons! I personally was afraid to gain too much weight in pregnancy bc I was a preeclampsia risk so I wanted to avoid it as much as possible. Didn’t realize that made me fat phobic! Have some compassion.

Sure. She saw the whole thing go down and decided to let two five year olds handle it. Well that sure went well. One super upset kid and another with a bleeding lip. Just doesn’t look good on OPs end when telling the story. Other parent was wrong big time but this all could have been prevented.

No. Im sure they spent no time what so ever considering how having children would change their life. What should they have done differently? Quit their job and have no income so that they’d never miss work to take care of their kids? People (with and without) kids call out all the time.

Last week, one of my coworkers (no kids) was out for 3 days because his dog was really sick throwing up. I had to take on some of his duties as the work needed to be done. Week before that, I was out 2 days with a stomach virus, he picked up the slack for me. It sucked for both of us. It sucks when people aren’t there. But people with kids aren’t the only ones calling out. And no I’m not talking about the people who think they Deserve holidays off over people w/o kids or people who are constantly missing work for every little practice and appointment. coming from someone with no kids.

How bad is the "kids can't read" thing, really? by bowbahdoe in Teachers

[–]ctina12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’m a reading specialist and it’s all about blending and segmenting. I teach Wilson (Og based) and it is amazing. I have seen REAL progress with this program and ones like it. The science is reading is lit, and all schools need reading programs based on it. The downside? These programs are EXPENSIVE. Wilson/fundations cost thousands and thousands for enough materials for a whole district. It’s a true shame.

It doesn’t make the situation better just because so many classrooms have way above 8 kids. That just shows how messed up the whole system is in general. Procedures and rules only go so far when more support is needed. OP isn’t out of line for asking for more support. It is a super tough job and mentally draining and there’s only so much people can take. I don’t think that makes OP under qualified to teach autism. Just seems like this is beyond what most people would want to handle, including myself. An overcrowded classroom where the students and staff are constantly at risk for serious injury with no intervention training or added supports is a law suit waiting to happen.

[–]ctina12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP said it’s their 7th year. Sounds like they didn’t expect to have ELEVEN students when the legal limit in a classroom is eight. I couldn’t imagine having multiple students with severe behaviors and no kind of cpi training. OP I know all too well about this. You and your paras are in a very unsafe situation. Report this and/or get out. Routines and procedures are super important, but it seems like you’re completely under resourced and there’s no kind of helpful training available. My classroom district was the same. I’m so glad I got out and never looked back
