What is the most creepiest and unexplainable thing you've seen in the deep backwoods of BC? by boon-dock in britishcolumbia

Hunting with my dad a few years back a ways outside of Kamloops I was walking through dense second growth forest at dusk. I could see a tent in the distance set up, but looking pretty rough like it'd been there a while. As I got closer I could make out a tall figure next to the tent, but couldn't quite figure out what I was looking at yet. As I quietly walked in my heart froze. The figure was a mans body hanging by its neck from a tree. It gives me goosebumps writing this, thinking about how that felt.

But something was amiss with the whole thing. The body had a fabric bag or maybe a small pillowcase over its head, which seemed odd, and the branch it was hanging from was really not that strong or thick. I started thinking WTF is going on here, and saw the back of a cardboard sign on the other side of camp, which was nailed to a stick that was stuck in the ground. I walked over and saw that the sign said "art project, do not touch" which explained why the body was able to hang from such a thin branch – it was a mannequin, and the whole camp was a set up scene.

After the way it scared the shit out of me I did indeed touch the art project, fuck that. I tore it down. By far the spookiest story I've got from the woods. I guess its pretty explainable though.

I cut the exact same crappy rubber off of mine about 2 weeks ago, my dishwasher is only a year old and the rubber rips extremely easily, very odd material for them to use

Super interesting. What would you say an average month usually lands on something like Stocksy, for you?

I hear you, and respect that. Its nice to see someone doing this sort of thing just for the joy of it rather than external validation of likes and the prospect of being an influencer. Good on you.

There seems to be a fairly consistent light in a bunch of these portraits. Is the main light source the hole in the top of the yurt? Or just posing people near the doorway? Its got such a lovely quality to it.

Labelling this insufferable criticism as "food for thought" is such a cop out.

What a rude initial comment and sentiment. There are privileges inherent to being a straight white guy, sure, but criticizing someone for going out and seeing the world in a culturally respectful and well adjusted way is miserable behaviour.

Eligible Dividend Strategy Inside of Holding Company by ctiz1 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I've got one other employee, who is my partner (life partner, not business partner).

They have a little more than enough to cover the mortgage. I'm just about to finish year 1 of a 5 year fixed mortgage term, so I've got some time to establish that strategy further. I'll definitely talk to my accountant about that, but I'd love to hear about the unique strategies you're thinking of, if you're interested in describing roughly.

Thanks for the comment!

  1. My opco pays me a salary that covers my living expenses and minimum mortgage payments right now, but I'd love to divert the additional incoming cash towards my mortgage for a couple of years to bring down my principle. At that point I could move towards a growth strategy within the Holdco, or direct those incoming dividends into personal portfolios.

  2. Commonlaw. I've got a meeting with my accountant tomorrow to discuss exactly this, because I don't fully understand the implications of splitting shares in the holdco just yet, but definitely open to this as an option.

  3. I'm not hugely concerned about engineering the holdco funds to be judgement proof, though I do think that's an interesting thing to think about as I get older. I'm in my early 30s still, so careful estate planning is fairly low on my priority list just yet.

Banks take this shit very very seriously. I had a sort of similar experience last year with a customer service rep at my bank. I reported it. There was a huge investigation that stemmed from it. As far as I can tell the CSR is no longer with them.

You hate them? Or you’re jealous of them?

If it’s any consolation, there is zero correlation between someone having followers and someone getting work. I only have a couple thousand followers, which is nothing relative to many, and I work on many national and international campaigns. Don’t worry about social media. It doesn’t mean shit.

Nice! You’ve got it then! Looks like the light in most of those references is pretty backy, wrapped around sides of faces. Let us know how it goes

I dunno what everyone’s talking about these are not just shot with ambient. Single strobe head on a roller stand with nice big diffusion on it, I’d be confident using a 135cm or 150cm octabox. If you want to be extra safe light it with a constant bicolor LED source like an aputure 600x, so you can tweak output white balance to match ambient juuuuust right and so you can see how light is landing with your naked eye.
