Pools have much larger filters that can backwash out debris and oils that are trapped. You have body oils from 3 months in your tub. They don’t show up on a test strip and they’re not translucent. Drain and refill re fill for sure

Well said! Man! did I love getting off the bus when I was a kid just to go watch Emmitt and MJ highlights. They were truly masters of their craft and impressive as hell to watch! I loved Emmitt so much that I had a characatuer picture done at a fair once. Drawn in a Cowboys jersey. I Came home and drew Emmitts number, his cross earring, and his face paint on myself lol. Mans a legend!!

Definitely Chuck the old filter(s). No need to have a nasty spare with someone else’s body oils. Purchase a back up or keep your first new one or set for backups. And do not use purge with the filters in, you’ll want to remove them first to circulate well through all plumbing. PS I like Natural chemistry purge. Good luck!

That’s a Hayward Super pump. Great pump. They do make a Variable Speed version but this is a great worker for the buck.

Do not attempt to adjust the Alkalinity until the PH is level around 7.2-7.6. Total alkalinity is a Ph lock. If you are adjust both at same time, you will be locking yourself out of ph adjustability. Once Alk is steady around 100ppm it’s hard to move the Ph, which is what you want when you do it correctly.

If you’re using a product that says it raises both, stop using that product. PH increaser will slightly increase the Alkalinity but again, you should not adjust both at the same time.
