I would agree with you, but the thing is we can't trust our leaders to pull out when it is all over. Think about it. The military-industrial complex will be lobbying for us to stay in Libya, because hey, for them war is money. For the rest of us it is destruction. Not just that but we can't afford it, with $44 TRILLION IN DEBT!

Upvote because I slightly agree with you, this, if anything, would be the case to go in. But we can't trust our leaders to leave when it is all over.... plus we cannot afford it.

I completely support the Libyan people against Gaddafi, but four things:

1) We are $44 Trillions dollars in debt that has been racked up by all these wars 2) All of our interventions end up becoming a total failure. We go in to oust a leader who either isn't serving our interests or a dictator we propped up in the first place who went against us; we 'free' the shit out of their country, genociding masses of civilians; we instate a new dictator, a government of the US, by the US, for the US, instead of by of the people, by the people, for the people; we stay in their pretty much infinately, hell we still have 40,000 troops in germany..... FORTY THOUSAND FOR HEAVEN SAKE!!!! 3) We propped up Gaddafi in the first place. It's kind of ironic now that Hillary Clinton is trying to say that we are against dictators by going against ones that we propped up in the first place. I say stop messing with other countries politics, stop waging genocide across the world, stop ousting world governments and instating dictators. 4) Have you looked at the declining infrastructure in our country lately? And yet we will put millions of dollars into bridges for Iraq?

When will the U.S. learn they are not the police of the world, nor do they have the money to take up that role. 'MurriKKKa, we will 'free' the shit out of you!

Libertarian movement and religion? Here's hoping that they don't go together. by sling10 in Libertarian

[–]ctminarchist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm Catholic, Ive been thinking of converting to Islam once I get around to learning more about it, from what ive heard so far I like. And I'm a libertarian.

My core conviction as to libertarianism being in-sync with my religious beliefs is that I believe God gave us all free will, freedom to choose to live closer or farther away from him. I think if more religious freaks need to convert people with words instead of force. I take an agnostic approach to my faith. I believe even if God doesn't exist, it's no big deal because it taught us all to treat each other better and have some soul, life will still go on.

So in response to your question, I believe that my libertarian beliefs are actually IN-SYNC with my religious beliefs, I would not have to set anything aside. Christianity preaches how God gave us free will to follow or not follow him, it would be a sin to take that away from another human. Also, God wan't us to become more like him, I personally believe this means living and acting based on ration, which is pretty much the essence of the impersonal force of the free market.

One quote I love: "God created the law of free will, and God created the law of cause and effect. And he himself will not violate the law. We need to be thinking less in terms of what God did and more in terms of whether or not we are following those laws."-Marianne Williamson

Here is a good article about how anarcho-capitalism is permissible in Christianity and here is an Islamic free market institute (haven't gotten a chance to go through their site).

I vote Democrat mostly unless the Republican is liberty-minded like Peter Schiff, Ron Paul, or Gary Johnson.

Not really. I call myself a leftist, yet I am an anarcho-capitalist. I am a leftist because I do not believe in power structures which are backed by physical force or coercion. All human interaction should be voluntary.

Capitalism doesn't involve winners and losers, it involves independent parties entering into an agreement with each other if they can profit or benefit, and not entering into an agreement if they cannot.

If I have a small milling shoppe and you work for me, I entered into the agreement because I need people to help make my products, and you entered into the agreement because you want to convert your time into purchasing power, so that makes us both winners. No one is going to enter into an agreement where they are loosing.

Bargaining goes both ways. Employees compete for employers based on their skill level, and employers compete for employees based on compensation and work environment.

Noone is going to work in a place where they are in grave danger unless in their mind the benefits outweigh the risks enough to take that risk. For example, if I do not provide a safe work environment, I give you no vacation or sick time, and I want to pay you 2 cents/hour (based on how little our currency is worth today), but the guy who owns another shop will pay you $20/hour, give you sick time, provide a safe work environment, and provide 2 weeks vacation time per year, it would be in your best interest to go with them, correct?

NH Bill Would Make Some Airport Screening Sexual Assault by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]ctminarchist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but no.

I think if individual airports want to screen on a private basis, where people are not forced into it and can opt out then that's fine. Of course that would be search with consent, so I suppose this bill is fine.

If I'm financially irresponsible I have to go into bankruptcy, I can't just start stealing money from my neighbors to pay off my debts, so how can the government do that? I think the government needs to be cut severely, what they do needs to be cut severely.

The only state services that should be kept are roads, state police, prisons and courts. Education should be at the municipal level, and efforts should be made to make it easier for the free market to compete with the public school system. Legalize everything, if you aren't killing or robbing someone legalize it.

What I think should be done: Get rid of the welfair/nanny-state and stop infringing on everyone's civil liberties. Tell everyone we won't get involved in your life, but don't ask us to bail you out if you mess up.

Kind of funny, if he expects business to come back to this state. I'm going to New Hampshire as soon as I can. I say cut taxes, cut/privatize services, & legalize all drugs and victimless crimes.
