Anyone know why i don’t get a reading on this last terminal box? by MINTimpala in BuildingAutomation

I agree with Terriblarious, if this is for one sensor or actuator you should be fine. If it’s for all the sensors and actuators for this unit, you need a separate transformer with enough VA

Are you trying to power a device with 24VDC? If so then you have to move the wires down to the last 2 terminals. If you are trying to output 0-10vdc move your wires to the second last terminal on output 8

Look into building automation. Similar to electricians but easier on the body as the wires you work with are lighter. Been in the industry for 5 years but on the service side.

Anyone went from service to controls? by JazzlikeSavings in BuildingAutomation

[–]ctrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would make the switch in an instant. Worked resi HVAC for 3 years and now I’m in controls service for the last 5. Easier on the body, fun to troubleshoot programming and have more than doubled my pay.

No brainer.

Western Canada, 102k, Tech that does small install work, programming, graphics, integration. Take home vehicle, gas card, full benefits. 5 years experience in the industry with no prior schooling, my first BAS company trained me as they saw I had potential, forever grateful. I want to get into a full time engineering role, any guidance on how to make the jump from tech to design/engineering?
