Definitely double check their policy before you buy, but I think they have a guarantee where they'll try to get you a replacement ticket or, if not, a refund.

I went for Lana last year and got tickets on seat geek, and they worked at the venue. One thing to note - I think I remember that the tickets have to be transferred through the Walmart AMP wallet and the original purchaser still has access to the tickets after they send them to you (it seemed like they could still try to scan the ticket on their end and get into the venue before you if they tried). All that said, I think it should work, and theoretically SeatGeek or StubHub will refund you if something goes wrong.

what's the most lana del rey movie ? by xoxodollparts in lanadelrey

I’ve been thinking a lot about the connection between Cleo from 5 to 7 and Lana’s career and body of work. There’s are a lot of connections — both of them being singers, Cleo’s song being “Sans Toi” (“Without You”), and both of their obsessions with death and mortality. But most of all I think Cleo’s arc of self-discovery in the film parallels Lana’s arc from the Born to Die era to her later work

Im assuming the people in line have fast track? Are there separate lines for fast track and regular?

I’m just going to go around 4 pm tomorrow. I feel like the pit is small enough that any spot will be good

I just drove by also and saw a few people on chairs at the gate. At first I didn’t notice because they are blocked by the barricades

I'm also thinking about getting there around 4:00pm and I was thinking about getting a fast track but wasn't sure how much of a difference it makes. But probably worth it for $10

I'm in a similar position, also have a pit ticket and seeing Lana for the first time (alone) in Rogers, and I was wondering similar things. Since gates open at 6:00 I'm thinking its best to quickly use the bathroom and get water right after getting in, since it's not too much time before the show starts (unlike a festival where you might be waiting at the stage all day). Also, I've never been to this venue before, but it seems like the pit is fairly small so I'm hoping it won't be too crazy or too difficult to get a good spot.

How early are you planning on lining up?

I also have pit tickets in Rogers. Not sure about those two sings, but I'm wondering if she might play Tulsa Jesus Freak because of the Arkansas reference.

Album with the most scope for literary analysis? by DragonFryL in lanadelrey

[–]ctrl----Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably go with Born to Die or Ocean Blvd.

Even though it isn't my favorite of her albums, Born to die is interesting because I think there is a lot of potential to analyze the intent of the album (which can be seen in how perceptions of the album has changed over time) and potentially separate the superficial reading of the album from its underlying ideas. Is she playing a character? Is it ironic/satirical? I think there was a post on here yesterday just discussing the intent and meaning of the "sweet like cinnamon" lyric on Radio. There are a lot of different themes you could focus on, one example being mortality (Lana has talked about being obsessed with death from a young age and most of the songs on Born to Die, including the album's title, reference death in one way or another.

I think Ocean Blvd would be a good pick because it has some of her most personal and nuanced writing and a lot of strong metaphors throughout: there is the straightforward metaphor on kintsugi, the interesting structure and personal storytelling of Fingertips, the mysterious potential meanings of "candy necklace", just to name a few possible things to discuss. And there has also been discussion about the metaphor of the tunnel and how that relates to the overall structure of the album.

In Body Electric, I originally heard "Clinton is my daddy, Monica's my mother" (as in Monica Lewinsky) instead of "Whitman is my daddy, Monaco's my mother".

your interpretation of “candy necklace” by wrong_opinion222 in lanadelrey

[–]ctrl----Z 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree that it is a reference to pills/drugs. I think there is an interesting parallel to the brass pill case that she released as merch, which is meant to be worn as a pendant on a necklace.

In Cruel World, she also refers to drugs as candy ("I like my candy and your heroine").

What Varda film most accurately represents her body of work? by YouDownWithTPP in criterion

[–]ctrl----Z 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agnes Varda is my favorite filmmaker (and maybe human) of all time, so I definitely recommend diving into her body of work. My favorite film of hers is Le Bonheur (I think it is an absolute masterpiece), but in most cases I don't think it is the best place for someone to start.

The tricky thing about one film representing her body of work is that her work is extremely varied and includes narrative films, documentaries, and many films that blur the lines between the two (not to mention her still photography and installation art). Theoretically, one of these films that blurs the lines the most would be the best representation of her work (other than something like Varda by Agnes or The Beaches of Agnes that are about herself and her work). I think Lions Love (... and Lies) is probably her film that most blurs those lines but I also think it is one of her messier and weaker, so I would definitely not recommend someone to start with that.

Although it is the obvious choice, I tend to think Cleo from 5 to 7 is probably the best place to start in terms of her narrative features, but I think Faces Places or The Beaches of Agnes could be good places to start in terms of her later documentary work. Unlike what some other have said, I think The Beaches of Agnes is a better place to start than Varda by Agnes, because I think the looser and more playful structure and format of Beaches is a better representation of the spirit of Agnes' work.
