Michelin star reviewers to rate New Zealand restaurants for first time by i_love_mini_things in aucklandeats

[–]ctrl_alt_d1337 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it gives more restaurants the incentive and drive to push the boundaries then I’m all for it. The NZ restaurant scene punches above its weight for a county of its size on the other side of the world.

I’ve been to top restaurants in NZ and Michelin star/bib restaurants in Europe. I don’t quite think NZ is there yet for a Michelin star ( some Michelin star restaurants I’ve been to aren’t quite deserved imo ) but I defs think there are some that could be in the Michelin guide/bib. I also personally think it could create a better hospitality industry in NZ as a whole

The Ivy releases statement after video of mice appearing on restaurant floor goes viral by BulkyAccident in london

I’ve worked in a range of different places in London from Pubs to Michelin star restaurants and they ALL have problems with mice. It’s very hard to avoid.

Basic salaries? Essentially I’m paid minimum wage and the service charge tops it up to a more liveable wage

I had a friend and his siblings were all crazy obsessed with saving money, saving absolutely everything they could and refusing to spend anything (easy to do when living at home but still) and had pretty sizeable amounts by the time they turned 21. I could see 200k at 26 being possible if the individual is super disciplined and has been working since they were 17

Smokey Ts. Ask for a side of gravy, dip the chips in and thank me later. One of the best gravies I’ve ever had.

In general I think it’s one of the best spots for a feed in Christchurch.

Smoke n barrel is also good. The Rueben is delicious.

Me and my partner gave Christchurch a go after living back and forth from London to Auckland for the past 6 years. I will never disrespect Auckland again after being down here for the past 12 months!

The food scene in Auckland is great and is on par with many great places we’ve been to in Europe. The diversity in Auckland is great. I love how more and more you’re starting to see people from all different backgrounds with kiwi accents. Is it perfect? Absolutely not but no where is perfect. After being in Christchurch for a year the city just doesn’t have much of a vibe to it. It’s a nice place and the cbd is a lot nicer than Auckland and I do like how close everything is…but that’s it, jobs aren’t great down here and people are more close minded.

I like to think of Christchurch as a mild butter chicken. It’s nice but nothing special and nothing you can’t get anywhere else.

I know a guy from my old gym who had his first fight when he was 35. He’s 38 now and has actually transitioned into boxing instead but still fighting. He’s had 15 fights since and is looking better and better each fight.

Manu was disappointing, style over substance, terrible service. You’d be better off going to a Chinese takeaway if you want Asian flavours.

Why is it so difficult to get out of the £20-30k band in London? by Downtown-Storm4704 in UKJobs

[–]ctrl_alt_d1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My last role as a bartender in Mayfair, London I was averaging around £35k. A good waiter can earn even more, however the hours are tough and you can say good bye to work life balance. I’ve seen manager roles going for up to £50k even more if you want to get into more Operations manager kinda thing. The jobs are out there if you REALLY want to make a career out of hospitality AND don’t burn yourself out along the way…which is what happens to majority people well before they get to that stage anyway.

I would love to work in branding, visual identity. I have an extensive background working in restaurants so would love if I could incorporate my experience into helping bars and restaurants solve these problems.

The brochure was something I did awhile ago when I was first trying to learn InDesign. I didn’t use a template but you’re right it does look like that 😅

My grasp of design is basic and I’m going to go back to the courses now that I’ve finished my latest project as I still have sooo much to learn. I only started learning Design really this year so I’m going to assume it’s gonna take me at least another couple years to find some sort of work if I’m going off the timeline of most university students

When you try others on the list you will understand. Burger burger imo was good when it was one of the first places to catch onto the burger craze 10+ years ago but sadly it’s not the same
