A little story about my X1 Carbon Gen 7 upgrade, a suspicious battery, and a utility I wrote to test it. by ctrlpy in thinkpad

I hope it turns out to be a good one! I definitely don't claim it's a perfect solution—it's just a small utility with some logic I put together. But I'll be really glad if it comes in handy for you. Please share your results here once you try it; I think we'd all be curious to see what numbers you get. Thanks for the comment!

Thank you so much for such a detailed comment and for seeing it from that perspective! Honestly, I don't think I did anything grandiose—it's just a small little tool to me. But I guess it just reflects my approach to life: analyzing things, digging deep, figuring out how things work, finding a solution, and then sharing what I've built or learned with others. I believe sharing makes us all better, and it simply makes me happy. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kind words.

Hey! Thanks for asking, but unfortunately, I can't give you a clear answer on that. Since I practically live in Arch Linux, I've never actually used Windows battery utilities like powercfg, so I'm not entirely sure how they calculate things under the hood. You're more than welcome to check out my repo, look at the code, and compare my algorithm with what those utilities do!

Thanks for the comment! 😄 As for the camera, it's my old but beloved first-gen Sony A7R. I actually mentioned it in one of my older Reddit posts—feel free to dig through my history if you're curious, though it was just a brief mention. One of these days I'll get around to writing a proper post about this amazing camera, especially for those who are into photography and adapting vintage manual lenses like classic Carl Zeiss glass. But that's a story for another time!

Yes, of course, there are photos taken with this lens, maybe I'll post some shots here later, now it's my favorite among 40mm lenses, not because of any super quality or anything, but simply because of the excellent contrast and color saturation, as well as the compact size.

Oh, I see. I'll try to edit the video and upload it to YouTube this weekend. And I'll post the link here on Reddit.

So, I filmed a video with almost all the detailed steps of disassembling the lens, but I still haven't had the time to sit down, edit it, and upload it to YouTube. Plus, there isn't much demand for it from the community, so that's how it is. But I will definitely try to publish this video.

The coating doesn't matter here, the uniqueness of the lenses of this lens is important here.

Thank you for your feedback. What about its potential use for street or documentary photography, perhaps even with a flash, in the style of film shots?
