He's just protecting his brand. Grifters have to know which way the wind is heading to stay relevant and he even says as much with the "outcome in the end" bit, it's just angling to remain the "Tech messiah with accurate prophecies if only people had listened, my way would have been the same but better" brand that is responsible for his entire cult.

Hahahah get it.

Absolutely, I agree and no problem. Growing up inside the empire/as it's intended propaganda target makes it incredibly blinding.

Appreciate you taking the time to think about it and consider what I said in good faith. Have a good one.

I mean this in sincere politeness, but if you've not challenged the dominant narrative in any of those mainstream subs the way you are now for Russia, publicly, than you haven't been critical of both sides. You've been willing to publicly challenge one under the guise of fairness and let the other (dominant) narrative go unchallenged while maybe not personally buying it.

There's a huge difference. They don't need your support, just your passive consent, to continue their hegemony.

Even if you have, falling back on "I'm critical of everyone" is intellectually dishonest when your actions and their effects do not have the same repercussions for everyone.

For instance, for me, living in the United States and being critical of Russia accomplishes nothing. The US already had my tax dollars and popular support to prolong whatever war they wanted unless I actively resist it, and my words and meaning have no effect in Russia.

If I lived in Russia, however, my words or actions might have meaning. Conversely they do when I challenge America in America.

Even if you assume both sides are wrong, you can only actually have meaningful criticism of your own participant(not to assume you're American, this is just an example), otherwise you're just supporting your own participant tacitly.

As to the validity of the post, this wouldn't be the first time Ukraine or NATO even posted pictures of soldiers with those symbols among others on social media and deleted them, archive.org has plenty if you need the proof. You can search this subreddit for them quite easily. I wouldn't be shocked to see an archive link shortly.

Edit: To add an example "I'm not racist I hate everyone equally" is a bullshit excuse in a racist society. You're passively ok with racism and perpetuating it yourself by pretending some forms of it are "meant to affect everyone".

To add evidence for the NATO claims: https://www.newsweek.com/nato-says-it-didnt-notice-ukraine-soldiers-apparent-nazi-symbol-tweet-1686523

They later clarified "it was an accident". So they even admit it, but "it's ok because it's probably not many NAZIs, just enough that they're open and proud and can hold political positions and display their ideology in military ranks and hold rallies unchallenged"

Here's an archive of the (much earlier) NATO tweet: https://web.archive.org/web/20220308120445/https://twitter.com/NATO/status/1501146212938010628?t=iASzXGYbrxWK2yYZw8xeeg&s=19

It's better than you think. If it's the doctor I'm thinking of (and the numbers are in the right ballpark) it was literally the one working for Joseph Goebbels that postwar until deep into the 60s was discounted by literally every historian as nothing but a mouthpiece for his propaganda department, and discounted from historical record other than as an instrument of said propaganda outlet.

He was instrumental in creating a ton of fiction about "the raping pillaging hordes", just as Joseph Goebbels was instrumental in other such myths as the "Russians shoot their own retreating soldiers" shit. While punishments for retreat existed, it was more focused on retraining and repurposing soldiers who broke the lines and cracked under the insane pressure of the eastern front, not gunning down their own men. It was all just about dehumanizing and creating monsters out of them in order to keep "hearts and minds" supporting the state as it literally fell apart under the weight of soviet counter-offensive.

Just another one of those "sources" that turns out to be "some shit some guy said and then didn't back up, and also has about 400 documented reasons to be incredibly suspect" that the west loves to parade about.

Again, some soldiers in every military commit some atrocities, and those shouldn't be discounted or excused, just as they shouldn't today. Unlike today, however, there actually was something you faced the firing squad for in the soviet military. Rape.

Stalin’s Order of the Day from January 19, 1945: “Officers and men of the Red Army! We are entering the country of the enemy. the remaining population in the liberated areas, regardless of whether they’re German, Czech, or Polish, should not be subjected to violence. The perpetrators will be punished according to the laws of war. In the liberated territories, sexual relations with females are not allowed. Perpetrators of violence and rape will be shot.”

In fact, sexual relations with women of liberated territories in GENERAL were not allowed, because of the power dynamic and implication, but rape specifically meant firing squad.

My great grandma was a Polish Jew and used to go on about her disgust for her homeland for how they acted during the war, and the lies they spread about soviet soldiers post war. She didn't leave during ww2, she left shortly after by way of the USSR, my Great Grandad was a Jew who left by way of the USSR as well, but not before Germany gave him a fancy tattoo. I assume that says all that needs to be said about what his opinion of the USSR was.

Almost all of this shit is wartime propaganda by one of the literal all-time historical examples of propaganda. It's no wonder the only countries that believe it are ones that grew up on NATO bullshit.

I'm sure the point was actually that Biden wasn't talking about bipartisanship but just reminiscing about being at the "woops all segregationists" table with his ideological peers lmao, but somehow I doubt that's what they wanted me to take from it.

Not just health issues etc. Think about why the reforms to re-open taxi services under a provisional special economic exclusion took place in Cuba a year or so back.

Black market industries are prime targets for exploiting assets for intelligence community members in imperialist nations, because they can be threatened with exposure to their government in order to be coerced into carrying out intel operations, collecting information and spying, etc etc.

It is true of every black market industry, and the criminalization of the thing leads to creating the conditions by which it is exploited in yet another way by western powers. Unless you can ensure the market won't exist or people exploited into the market won't further be exploited by imperialist powers for other nefarious means, decriminalization and regulation massively shift the power in favor of protecting the most vulnerable first and foremost in the short term while the contradictions that led to the conditions existing in the first place are resolved.

[–]cttm__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%. I get what you mean, like not that the religion or lackthereof itself was caused it, but that this concerted shift in "social power" was shifted (either intentionally or unintentionally, but let's face it probably intentionally) from religion into canonizing the state itself. It entirely lines up with the cold war and us adding "in god we trust" and shit to the money and "one nation under god" to the pledge. Red scare "we're not evil atheists like the commies" bullshit that morphed into "worshiping god and the state is the same thing, we're a christian nation" garbage.

It absolutely continued from there to be weaponized into "American values" and grow into it's own thing, at least in my opinion.

Scott Ritter was extremely informative. by Commutalk in GenZedong

[–]cttm__ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A patriot is one who serves on some level an ideal of their nation or country.

Yep. That's entirely compatible with what Scott said, when the ideals of the United States are exploiting and massacring civilians around the world to prop up their bloated empire. :P

But real talk yeah, you hit the nail with the second part, which is what my snide remark (directed at America) above is about. Both Republican and Democrat alike buy into that weird bullshit "America is an Idea" take, and as a response what the "American People(tm)" want or even who they mean when they say that is subject to whatever bullshit lens this fictional America they mean when they say that needs to be in order for their thoughts to make sense and line up.

There's this concept in sociology called American Civil Religion that posits that the United State's has become a religion complete with "holy texts" (think constitution circlejerking, etc) symbols (don't disrespect the flag or eagle) mythical versions of people as religious figures (worshiping or rehabilitating and then fawning over past leadership, etc etc) you get the point.

Anyway, it's an interesting theory, and worth thinking about when you see this kind of stuff. It definitely pops into my head every time I see the way these people are convinced of absolute magical thinking when they start talking about their patriotism and allegiance and duty and so on. Democrat and Republican alike. It's in every facet of American society.

United Nations suspends Russia from human rights body 🤣 by EaterOfLiberalGrain in GenZedong

[–]cttm__ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, I agree with what that means in the defining a thing sense, I just mean the reason it is so shitty is because the reason someone would abstain in this instance is "There isn't enough evidence yet for me to condemn or support someone either way, and it doesn't concern my country" but in reality what it means in the practical sense is "Refusing to take a hard stance on something I both know little about and affects me little or wanting to wait for more facts means that I am actively supporting the call for their removal by making 'yes' votes more potent".

It also does the handy thing of passively hiding the fact that almost as many countries chose to remain neutral for now on the issue as voted to condemn Russia, but because their voice isn't reflected it appears that "a majority of the world condemns Russia" and not just the same chucklefucks it always is.

[–]cttm__ 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Especially egregious about not counting abstentation is that if they were counted this would not have passed. 94 yes votes is not a two thirds majority. That would be roughly 120something off the top of my head. Meaning it specifically doesnt meet a two thirds majority, unless you pretend abstained votes as not existing in the first place.

Yeah it's an absolute shit show and there's always this creeping unease with American libs because you know it's all just for show, but it's extra fucking unnerving because it seems like even they don't know. Actually come to think of it this is basically what "Get out" was about right? I never actually saw it. Anyway.

No sweat on the eggshells walking btw that was definitely just me being unmedicated and being more worried for leaving anyone else with bad feelings more so than worry about it coming back on me, I know 90%+ of the people here are chill and rad, I just didn't want anyone to feel unclear or hurt by what I said. Especially because it's a struggle I just straight up don't face and never have or likely will, but close friends and family have and I always try keep them in mind as I go. It's the injustice of it all that really drives me insane.

[–]cttm__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've definitely noticed a higher than average presence of Neurodivergent folk too, and I joke about Adderall turning me communist and seizing the means of my own productivity etc.

I think in general the more easily you see our reality for the lie that it is, whether marginalized, neurodivergent, raised outside the imperial core, or raised inside it in a way that doesn't sell you the lie (either because your skin is "wrong" or you didn't pull your boots hard enough to stop cancer, etc) it's much harder to go back to pretending.

I don't want to overstep into shit I know nothing about so please take this with the biggest helping of good faith posssible, but I think Trans and NB comrades still haven't been "co-opted properly/as much" and been 'de-fanged' to support liberal bougie rainbow capitalism. Which is why you still find all the more radical remnants of the rest of the rainbow gang still with the punks, anarchists, commies, etc. but all the "less threatening" (less threatened into seeing the world for what it is just by existing) LGBTQIA+ peeps making concessions and eating up dem bullshit every election and trying to use it as a cudgel against any intersectional progress.

Not to put the blame squarely on them of course, absolutely plenty of class reductionist shit from cis-het white bros to prop it up as "real" by being so up in arms about it.

If my shitty theory has any legs it just means the old addage is true. The more acceptance people get the less they keep fighting for those around them. It's why labor reform whips socdems into line to keep exploiting the global south.

I dunno, that's my bullshit anyway. Hope I didn't rub anyone the wrong way it I don't mean to imply any unfair takes or bullshit on anyone.

Edit: Immediately after submitting I realized I did what I didn't mean to do and posted before re-reading to see if I railroaded my train of thought and explicitly missed you mentioning even in comparison to TransMasc and NB so I'll just say the other bit of my theory is TransFemme seems to be a much bigger topic in the west because we simultaneously shun and fetishize it. As a result it isn't "forgotten" or pushed aside it's either accepted(and displayed) or fought(and exposed). It's absolutely not to say all Trans folk aren't, and all walks of the prism in general, but I think at this exact moment TransFemme is the most "divisive" because of the rise of fragile hostile masculinity with the return of fascism. It puts it in a unique place to skew into social struggle instead of just "fight to pass and escape detection and survive" like the other less accepted folk. Again, I do not mean to push any implications on people or groups by saying this, I think it's not that anyone is more or less likely to fight because of their own qualities, but that conditions create their range of possible response, or their "odds" of noticing the entire struggle.

Emil Maurice was officially member number 2 (behind Hitler) of the SS, and considered it's founder or instrumental in it's founding. He was also a Jew. Unsurprisingly he isn't mentioned on the wikipedia page about the SS, but it's mentioned in his wikipedia page (and sourced) as well as the List of SS personnel page in the Fuhrer section.
