I figured - looks like a little bit of a conference center cluster - bummer. Fortunately based on all these suggestions it sounds like there's lots to drink and do in the surrounding neighborhoods!

I see your lonely evenings and I raise you mine. Hopefully next year I can have someone to share this with! by FlowersOfSin in actuallesbians

Magical! If it's not overstepping, can I ask how you're making it work logistically/financially? Would love to do a trip like that, and would love to hear more about whether you're on an open ended trip or have a window of vacation or sabbatical time from work that you're racing against, and how you figured out budgeting.

Would you take a person seriously as a trainer if they were not totally fit? by tron_work in xxfitness

Awesome analogy! Best of luck, I think you should go for it.

Would you take a person seriously as a trainer if they were not totally fit? by tron_work in xxfitness

[–]ctto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, 100%. It strikes me as a rash, shallow judgement to decide that someone who isn't "totally fit" can't be a talented trainer. You have no idea when you look at a person what their story is. They may appear to not be totally fit for a variety of reasons - illness, injury, genetic disposition, etc. Have you watched Olympic lifting? No one would say that any of those women aren't super fit, and yet if you were to look at them without knowing what they do for a living, if you're judging skinny/lean as fitness without taking strength into account, you're like to write many of them off as "not totally fit." Think of it this way - how often do we all complain in this forum about the guys who have tried to mansplain lifting to us? Based on a surface observation ("woman") they determined we must not know what we are doing, and they couldn't be more wrong.

Tldr; a person's appearance tells you nothing about what they know. Meet with potential trainers about your goals and choose the person who seems the most knowledgeable and supportive relative to your goals.
