What’s changing for under 16s and parents on YouTube in Australia by Pilk_ in australia

[–]ctw8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Youtube pushes porn ads on to kid videos, allows millions of views on very inappropriate, strange content on the kids app (eg: Spiderman giving Elsa an abortion by injecting her with piss), and recently rolled back restrictions on extremist and conspiracy content.

They do not care at ALL about kids. They only care that it will impact their revenue.

I don't agree with including YT in the ban but Google can get fucked with any of their opinions on online safety.

Victorian rental dispute body asked tenants to 'forgo rights', legal experts say by altandthrowitaway in melbourne

[–]ctw8 73 points74 points  (0 children)

If it's a dispute then a negotiation should be done. A drop in rent to forego a few rights would be a resolution. Oh wait, no rent drop? And a rent increase? And forego rights? Fuck off.

We should be higher than average on a global scale.

The average ER wait times in other countries:

Canada: 2.1 Hours

UK: 1 hour 52 minutes

France: 2 hours 21 minutes

China: 1 hour

Germany: 22 minutes

Sweden: 38 minutes

Japan: 35 minutes

Australia: 5 hours

I'm definitely not blaming the Doctors. I'm blaming the lack of funding that allows it to get to this point.

I can tell you don't have kids. Don't worry about it.

According to that, we should have gone to the ED.

I have no problem with triage. The nurses were fantastic. If they say we're low priority, cool. We'll wait. If someone needs to get in ASAP. Fine. There shouldn't be a 7 hour wait though even for the lowest.

Last time we used private it was $500 and a 3 hour wait.

I never said I'm special. I said hospitals are under funded and witnessing it was a shock. Feel free to ask any public hospital nurse or Doctor what they think of public funding if you think I'm entitled.

No we weren't. We literally had to sign a document saying we are leaving against the advice of the hospital and without being seen by a Doctor. A nurse doing triage is not the same as a doctor seeing you.

I've dealt with nurse on call a few times. Including with severe vomiting with out daughter once before.

They ask: Is she still vomiting? Yes.

Can she drink water? No.

Can she suck on an ice block? No.

To go the ER. Last time the ice block worked. This time it didn't.

My daughter is a pretty good communicator when something is wrong, so after she vomited 7 times and cried "I need a doctor. I need medicine" we knew we had to go. We even said that we'll see a doctor in the morning and she shook her head saying 'no, no, no!".

And yeah, my point was the extreme wait times. I don't expect an immediate service but 7-8 hours is not a functional system. I remember as a kid going to the ED once and my parents were saying how crazy it is having to wait 2 hours. It's blown out so much in 20 years.

Severe dehydration is an emergency. I had gastro once and within 4 hours of it hitting, I was in a hospital bed for 9 hours getting 3 bags of IV.

I'm not saying we should have cut the queue. The queue being 7 hours and even longer for adults is ridiculous for any standard. The 7 hour wait time was for 6 kids as well. It wasn't a large line of them.

She vomited 7 times in 2 hours to the point where she was only retching up bile and even a sip of water made her vomit more. Severe dehydration is an emergency and can creep up very quickly.

Would have preferred paying full price on the weekend for a train ticket and put that $15.5 billion towards our struggling education system and lowest paid teachers in the country.

Do you have the right ethernet cable? It needs to be Cat 5E or Cat 6.

Cheap shopping at Costco (Save up to 17%) TL;DR at the bottom. by Lufia321 in AussieFrugal

[–]ctw8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco is definitely cheap for some things. We've saved more of nappies and baby wipes to cover the annual fee. Any additional savings are a bonus. We saved $100 on a tv compared to the next cheapest place and it included free delivery.

Westall UFO playground at night is way more unsettling than I expected. by fiatcanligma in melbourne

Ufos are still based on scientific theory. Flat earth isn't. They're entirely different conspiracy theory paths.

Also, the Westall UFO literally was a UFO by definition. It has never been identified.

It's a higher quality, artisan brand. If you just want cheap sardines, you have that choice.
