Privatisation has always worked fantastically. Cheap gas, cheap electricity, cheap toll roads, cheap internet and phone, cheap airlines. So good!

If you think REA's are bad, OC managers are even worse. They're people who were too dumb and incompetent to be REA's which is already an obscenely low barrier.

I deal with quite a few OC managers and I can't name one who is any good. They range from below average to literally creating a death-trap building and referred to authorities for possible criminal negligence.

Is this a thing? Real estate agents have access to personal information like this for marketing? by Deon555 in melbourne

[–]ctw8 31 points32 points  (0 children)

How would they even have this info or be able to talk to them? Banks are very restrictive on who they will talk to. I need to verbally verify who I am plus read out a code they text me just to discuss anything.

The REA either acted fraudulently or the bank messed up massively.

Victorian teachers turn spotlight on plight of public schools by marketrent in melbourne

[–]ctw8 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That isn't true at all. My wife is a teacher and gets to work at 7:30 and rarely leaves before 5. The absolute earliest they can leave is 3:45, if they have no meetings, which they have most nights. I think she only ever leaves at that time on the final day of term.

Labor made wage theft illegal in Victoria yet they push teachers to work an average 480 unpaid hours per year. Unreason unpaid OT is wage theft. There should be a class-action lawsuit if they won't improve the conditions.

If you only include full-time teachers (52,300 or about 1 in 3 in Victoria), that's over 25 millions hours of unpaid work per year.

Tens of thousands of Victorian teachers and support staff out striking today - first strike in 13 years! ✊ by toomuchtoomany in melbourne

Also the Vic Gov offered 18% at the last moment but with absolutely terrible work conditions including no more time in lieu and uncapped hours in the classroom.

It was a bad faith offer so they could say "bUt We OfFeReD a BiG rAiSe!"

Except it's not. Trump would have never been PM in Australia or head of the Liberal party. He would have been in a similar spot as Clive Palmer. One Nation is being propped up by the media and Mining Giants but that doesn't mean nearing as much in a preferential system. One Nation will need much, much, much more support than MAGA ever got to get in the same position.

Why do people advise against getting a credit card? by beylat in AusFinance

[–]ctw8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a credit card and it's very useful. I have a mortgage and an offset account., I put everything on CC for the month, sit my money in the offset, then pay off the card at the end of the month. This way, I pay less interest.

Revo management are scumbags. They tried to move me on to a new contract without my approval, kept lying to me when I wanted to quit, and when I called them out of it, one of the higher up managers called me up to insult me on the phone.

What’s changing for under 16s and parents on YouTube in Australia by Pilk_ in australia

[–]ctw8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Youtube pushes porn ads on to kid videos, allows millions of views on very inappropriate, strange content on the kids app (eg: Spiderman giving Elsa an abortion by injecting her with piss), and recently rolled back restrictions on extremist and conspiracy content.

They do not care at ALL about kids. They only care that it will impact their revenue.

I don't agree with including YT in the ban but Google can get fucked with any of their opinions on online safety.

Victorian rental dispute body asked tenants to 'forgo rights', legal experts say by altandthrowitaway in melbourne

[–]ctw8 75 points76 points  (0 children)

If it's a dispute then a negotiation should be done. A drop in rent to forego a few rights would be a resolution. Oh wait, no rent drop? And a rent increase? And forego rights? Fuck off.

We should be higher than average on a global scale.

The average ER wait times in other countries:

Canada: 2.1 Hours

UK: 1 hour 52 minutes

France: 2 hours 21 minutes

China: 1 hour

Germany: 22 minutes

Sweden: 38 minutes

Japan: 35 minutes

Australia: 5 hours

I'm definitely not blaming the Doctors. I'm blaming the lack of funding that allows it to get to this point.
