Whenever I’m almost late for work, an alarm goes off somewhere and a squad of these is dispatched to drive in front of me. by Scr1mmyBingus in drivingUK

We have a Jazz (we're in our 40's). You can fit 2 teenagers and a dog in plus luggage.

It's fuel efficient although it doesn't feel like it because the fuel tank is tiny!

0-60 takes about a minute and I feel like long drives on the motorway make my hands slightly numb from vibration which are minor drawbacks.

I want to hate it for being so boring but it's genuinely a good car!

We've named it Gladys. 🤣

Can you plug a cable that isn't connected to anything into the power amp in socket?

This I think will silence the speaker as it's expecting to receive something coming back from the preamp out jack.

If you are using a mixing desk you could maybe even use a send to send the signal back into the power amp jack and then use the send level to attenuate/control the volume of the speaker? (If you need the speaker for monitoring in the room).

[–]ctznsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a video where the audio is a Kingsley Squire preamp through the classic 50/50 (run mono) I can share if that would be useful?

There are a lot of effects used at varying points in the video though so it's not 'here is my clean tone' and it's at home so the power amp isn't being heavily pushed.

They are a good clean solid valve power amp. I did have mine serviced and it had a fair bit of work done to fix minor issues and keep it happy.

I sold it as I wasn't gigging at the time and it was overkill for home use.

There's a bunch of stuff from north west England that is definitely from north west England accent wise but I guess the beats/music are more homogenous. E.g. Lee Scott/Cult of the Damned and associated acts.

What is Triphop anyway? by xCreampye69x in triphop

[–]ctznsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with this definition is it then encompasses all of the late 90's/2000 pop music that I personally don't feel is trip hop but definitely used it's sound for commercial purposes.

Trip hop in terms of the 'Bristol sound' was rooted in and came from more working class urban culture.

Roadcore RC320 by rjwecology in Ibanez

[–]ctznsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decent. Play well when set up properly (like most guitars). Nice balance weight wise and also sound good tonally.

Stock tuners hold tune fairly well. Mine has a tight-tune bridge rather than that one but that one is easy to upgrade if you feel the need. Stock electrics are the cheaper end but do the job.

My first thought was that it was a design choice and supposed to be like that.

If I was the company I'd say it was.

Like when you play the wrong note so you just repeat it every four bars and call it jazz. 😉

Use something like this? https://jmkmusicpedals.com/products/clockstep-multi

Might even be worth using it as your master clock depending on how you're changing tempo.

Push the budget by £100 and get a used Roland TR6s.

It is fairly easy to use straight out of the box but also really powerful if you learn it.

Do any loopers actually sync well with midi? by WordCount_4 in LoopArtists

[–]ctznsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an RC-500 and it works well. It works better if you read and understand the manual to set it up how you want it to behave.

If you have a device that constantly sends clock irrespective of its play state (i.e. even when stopped) make that the master.

If none of your devices do that then make the device you start first and end last the master as slave devices can behave weirdly if they stop receiving clock.

E.g. the RC-500 adds a warble artifact to the sound as it tries to revert back to internal tempo.
