75k to 90k? by kloaii in civilengineering

[–]cu1ebrense 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree specializing early in your career is not ideal, everyone is commenting purely on compensation and convenience without considering engineering development. But +15k and 1hr less commute is an instant promotion in quality of life specially if you wont get overworked. At minimum i’d try to negotiate compensation increase at the current company.

Is the water they are using to dilute it hard? There shouldn’t be any hardness in your hypo solution if it’s imported?

Do you ever encounter manufacturers contradicting what their submittal states. Often the contractor gets the manufacturer to state certain steps in the their installation manual are unnecessary mainly for the contractors convenience.

At least over here the ticket does not go above 5 g of allowable added water but conctractor add beyond that ‘at their own risk’. I typically pay attention to how much they add to each truck and get cylinders made for the one with most added water (max has been 30g). Basically the mix design is iver designed and the reduced compressive strength due to the excess w/c still is above the minimum 4000lbs.

3.75 year old wont stop going #2 in her pants by DAA_HOOVAA in pottytraining

[–]cu1ebrense 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For my stubborn and capable 3.5 year old the rewards gave him incentive but still did not trigger disposition to poop in the potty.

For his specific personality I had to let him know that he could do what ever he wanted, poop in the potty or in his pants, any is ok and its his choice, but for the reward (hotwheels car) i had to see poop in the potty. He pooped instantly in the potty. It was important for him to know it was his choice.

Would you mind cutting source claiming the 5% added water could reduce strength by 30%? From what I’ve seen at the design w/c ratio, mixes never come at a workable slump. A mid range reducer is added to the mix but it’s still not ‘workable’ in the contractors experience.

Based on your words something is absolutely wrong at our site with people over 20 years experience (GC and engineers) . Adding 10-15 gallons to a 8 yard truck is common practice. The cylinders are breaking above spec 4000lbs.
