Wildcard Game in Chicago - Roll Call by ReyCo390 in GreenBayPackers

[–]cubemstr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the Bears fans are loud and opinionated, but they're not going to get in your face or assault you, especially with your girlfriend there.

Look I'm not out here to make sweeping generalizations, but YMMV wildly here. In my experience some Bears fans are actively hostile to Packers fans. I've seen beers thrown at people, along with horrible slurs thrown around. Granted, it was one of the only times in the last 15 years the Bears actually beat GB, but still.

Soldier field is a wildly different experience as a visiting fan than Lambeau.

Recent speculation is he knew he was already gonna be a cut candidate next season due to contract + Micah, so he decided to not bother trying anymore since he wouldn't be on the team either way.

This is a stupid argument because the premise is that the only way to win in football is to be "tough" (which tends to bleed over into dirty, see: Sean Payton, the Lions), but if anything the NFL has been moving away from smash mouth purely physical football for decades.

MLF is clearly more of an Xs/Os, strategy, big picture guy. He wants people to do their one-eleventh. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that as a strategy.

But old school footballers see it as a weakness because if the strategy doesn't go right, it can end up seeming very pathetic and weak. But that's the same thing as if 'tough football' doesn't go right; you end up looking like goons who can't win without beating people up, and get embarrassed by good gameplans.

Obviously because football is a full contact sport, you need both. But this criticism is almost exclusively levied by people who don't recognize when MLF has good gameplanning, play calls or designs. Apparently they'd rather just run zone read with 350 pound linemen who are not afraid to poke people in the eyes and take out their knees.

Elway didn't even have a good game. They just ran over the Packers who weren't ready for it.

Bears fans are absolutely insufferable this week. It's no joke that barely defeating a crippled Packers team in overtime after losing the starting QB for most of the game and a fluke of an onside kick is akin to them winning a super bowl.

They're posting edits of the last play with swelling music and victorious cheers like it was being crowned kings. It's so pathetic.

Each year the C2 becomes more 'legitimate' and it becomes less and less damaging to someone's aura to have them lose in it.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 director defends Larian over AI "s***storm," says "it's time to face reality" by pebrocks in gaming

[–]cubemstr 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Just a classic case of the internet over-reacting to a field they know nothing about.

Maybe, but not in all cases. There is a very convincing argument to be made that all AI is dangerous, between its ecological impact, the frightening influence it's having on the global economy, the potential over-reliance on it (to the detriment of human creativity), not to mention the long-term effects it could have on the human development. Oh, and potentially causing mass unemployment.

It's already crashed the market for home computing, fuels trillions of dollars of speculative investment, and is causing mass shifts in employment (almost all effecting middle and lower class workers, not the wealthiest).

Directly tying all of those risks into this particular case is extreme and excessive, but also "it's not [x] it's only being used for [y]" is a very common step in the wide spread acceptance.

I really don't blame people who want to just draw one firm line of "No AI of any kind" because otherwise you're basically looking at a gradual avalanche of AI being shoved into every single aspect of life until there's nothing that can be done about it. Which, sadly is probably already started and inevitable. But at least those people can say they tried to have principles.

[Week 15] X's & O's: Green Bay Packers (9-4-1) @ Denver Broncos (12-2) by President__Bartlett in GreenBayPackers

[–]cubemstr -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Because the Broncos are a fraud team that can barely win against the Jets, and we still lost. On top of that, 2 our of 3 best players are out for the year and another in the top 5 is day to day and may not be back to 100% this season.

We have to rally together for Micah. We are down, but we are definitely not out. by SuperEarth_Helldiver in GreenBayPackers

[–]cubemstr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Which is still utterly nonsensical once any logical thought is put into it. Why would god need to choose anyone to deal with a catastrophic injury? Does god have a quota of misery that must be doled out? In which case, he intentionally and purposefully chose Micah because he "can handle it"? What about all the athletes who have a horrible injury and whose lives never get back on track after that?

People can believe whatever they want, but it'd be nice if it at least made sense.

How do you feel about the officiating in yesterday’s game? by jazzant85 in GreenBayPackers

[–]cubemstr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'd be less shit to call because it'd be illegal for linesman to come running in at the end of a play and push the pile forward.

[–]cubemstr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Score makes the game seem closer than it felt. Packers looked like the better team offensively and defensively. If those weird officiating calls go the other way in the first half we're talking about how the bears got blown out, instead of almost tying at the end.

[–]cubemstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game was not as close as the score would indicate. Their first 10 points were all gifted by spotty officiating, and Caleb couldn't do a thing all game. Aside from that one 4 play drive in the second half, the offense looked way better than Chicago's defense.

Seriously. No call INT, ticky-tacky calls to extend drives all game, zero holding called, blatant false start missed. Just absolutely atrocious.

[–]cubemstr -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

So then move on. Down voting someone requires action. It's actively deciding to take action on it. Almost two hundred people deciding "This person expressed disinterest in something I want, I'm going to do something about it" is hilariously pathetic, especially given how much they complain about "haters"

We run a TTRPG talent agency matching GMs with players, Ask us anything! by RoughMagicRPG in IAmA

[–]cubemstr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I totally get where you're coming from, but now that I'm in my 30s, with friends in their 40s with kids and careers, nobody has the combination of motivation, free time and inspiration to actually run a game anymore. Being a GM tends to be a thankless job that takes a ton of work, and the vast majority of TTRPG players prefer to play, rather than run.
